Red hair... well it's brown with a redish sort of tint- sometimes natural, more definate read when I 'help it' as someone eloquently put it. And I'm short- 5 "1 and a bit! and I've been this height since I was ten (when I got seriously ill- guess that stopped the chance of getting tall... oh well) I don't mind too much being short now because no one realises- it's the personality that makes it. Hm...Ob misty... think...How many people on this list are also writers or at least like to write? Well I'm in the UK... but I am a US citizen...I'm still trying to come up with an Obmisty...Anyone heard about the next Owl book or will it be a duology? Anyone know what it's called or who it will focus on? Any mentions in the Owlsight books just out?Storm- I really liked Karal and Ulrich (can't spell I know) and the firecats are a wonderful idea... Oh, four and twenty blackbirds- I really liked it- I usually read feminist slanted crime and I enjoyed that one- I love Ardis... Tal... well he's OK, but Ardis is really interesting... I'm still waiting to get the full tale of Kestrel- I was SO annoyed not to have a book on that story. And I have only posted onece and cannot spell, it seems. Anyway I am 21 yearls old. I have 5'6 or 5'7, I am not sure. I have short brown hair, which I highlighted over the summer, so it looks strange now. My friend calls it the "yes, I color my hair and now I am growing it out look." She also says I should highlight it again, but since coloring is not good for your hair, I don't like doing it much. So anyway, back on topic. I from Lexington MAss, but I go to school in Gettysburg, Pa., at Gettysburg College (orginal name, huh!) and no, I not a history major! Sorry, but everyone asks me that when I tell them where I am from and where I go to school. I am psychology major and i want to work with kids he whenI "Grow Up." Off the tangent. I started reading Misty's work this summer, that same friend who commented about my hair started me on it, when I was looking for some new series to read. I had read some of fiona Patton work and liked it, although not as much as Misty's, I'll admit. But Patton is also a newer author then Misty, so that could explain it. Nevertheless, I started reading her this summer, and enjoyed her. I have only read the up through the MAGE WINDs in the Valamar stuff. I started with ARROWS and have read the Vanyel stuff too. But that is about it. Actually I have a question, what series or set should I read next. Well I had better go. I'd like to add a "what she said" to those words. They sum up pretty much how I feel. I was raised a Christian/Catholic of sorts, but mostly in the sense that when we went to some sort of Church service we went to the neighbourhood Catholic church (South America IS mostly Catholic, so Catholic churches are much more common than any other kind). However, my mom never tried to *make* me a Christian or a Catholic, tho she did give me a Bible when I was old enough to read it / understand it. Right now, I am all the more convinced that there is no one true way, and that the ways to whatever is at the center are multiple and all of them valid as long as they adhere to the "goodness that exists", as Ellen put it. I still go to a Catholic church every once in a while, but I am wont to pray sitting on a pier and looking at the sea as much as (if not more) than I do at Church. Now, to try and tie in all this with Misty....;) Seriously tho, one of the things that has caused me to keep reading Misty is that she illustrates very covincingly the "no one true way" concept. Skysinger asked among other very interesting trivia questions: >What was Celandine's occupation? And I have been trying to remember who the heck Celandine WAS. "obMisty:does anyone know when the book about Andre is coming out (sorry, don't remember the title." I think It's called _Blood and Soil_. "What is a 'pooka'?" Pooka are those nifty creature people, that in Xanth books are ghost horses and in _War for the Oaks_ were spelled differently and that particular one was a dog. That wasn't very useful, was it? Faerie-ish people, that change form to animals, I think. "I'm reading 'Talking to Dragons' atm... A Young Adult book... brain candy while I find OwlFlight..." _Talking to Dragons_, by Patricia Wrede? I like her books, especially the Lyra ones. Er, on religion, I'm sort of pagan, but sort of not, and even if I am, I haven't admitted it to anyone I knew. And by the end of the day when I wore a pentagram pendant to school, I had three kids ask me if it was Jewish and one if it was Satanic! Brilliant kids, huh? "Stories we would like to see: The Founding, events predating the magewars, Sunsinger and Shadowdancer, Lavan Firestorm, Talia's becoming a Sunpriest, what happened to all the main characters after SB, and the time right after Van's death when the "regular" Heralds were coming into their own." I think she's writing a book about Lavan right now. I really hope she does one about Sunsinger and Shadowdancer, though, 'cause I'm *dying* of curiosity about them! " Does anyone else on the List like Sailor Moon?" Yes! I can't watch it much, 'cause it's on a station we don't get, and during school, but my brother bought tapes in Japanese, and I think I've seen every episode he has three times, at least. Even if I can't tell what anyone's saying. "Do you have an obsession if your cats are named Misty and Larry? How about Altra and Hansa?" Probably. "Strawberry peppermint sheep to all for putting up with my incoherencies. :-ţ" *takes pity on the sheep and lets them go off into the wilderness, to be eaten by some *other* carnivorous (or omnivorous) beast* Eck! I don't even have a question this time! Oh well. Fare you well, LadyKitsune _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? In an old welsh (I think) story a pooka (though it was spelled phooka) took the form of a really evil looking black stallion and would entce people to ride him and he would run and do all sorts of horrable things to them until they died because they were held on by his magick. And of course for those gamers among us the pookas are those irrascable shapeshifters who always manage to make the truth more colorful than it ever really is. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Sep 1998 18:45:26 -0400 From: "Judy L. So, even if gryphons have a gestation period to match elephants, the gryphlets would be 4-5 years old. Definitely not babies. I don't remember who said they don't remember the gryphlets talking. They do. After the snow fight before Darkwind and Elspeth send message bird to nearest other vale, one of the gryphlets states "I have snow in my feathers."
