He came into existence when Ma'ar stole the body of a young mage from Kata'shin'a'in. Ma'ar had the habit of naming his incarnations in either Shin'a'in, Tale'edras, or Kalid'a'in(please forgive spelling). I believe he used their name forms to let them understand what he stood for. He hated the Kalid'a'in with a passion that was only exceeded by his hatred for the gryphons JW "Insanity takes its toll.....Please have exact change". ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Sep 1998 10:35:21 -0400 From: "Old Nicodemus" To: "Misty" Subject: USS VALDEMAR Message-ID: <199809171433.KAA02756-+AT+-bsd1.se-tel.com> This is an interesting little tidbit I discovered this morning for the Trekkers among us. Apparently there is a starship called the USS Valdemar patroling the Federation/Cardassian DMZ. Now granted this was in a book but Id love to find out if it was canon. LOL Gee, maybe it carries the new *Companion* class shuttles? LOL Anywho, wind to thy warp core. ************************************************************************ ******* "..if ye cant afford a carriage, then ye cant afford a marriage and I'll be damned, if I'll be crammed, on a bicycle built for two..." ---Ladies Rejoinder, "Bicycle Built for Two" Old Nicodemus ALOOFF, Leader of the Rats of the Delta Quadrant, Knight of Fluff, Member of the Order of Light Warriors One In Black. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Sep 1998 15:22:43 -0400 From: nathanh124-+AT+-juno.com (Nathan D Henderson) To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Message-ID: <19980917.152246.3270.1.NathanH124-+AT+-juno.com> The incarnation of Ma'ar you are speaking of is Sar'terixa the mad. Message-ID: <19980917194150.12781.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> Goddess greeting, Listsibs! I have to be quick, since I'm doing this while my students are at lunch, so forgive any spelling errors. I just have a couple of little questions. First, as a birthday gift one of my friends has promised me one of mistys filk cds. The problem? I have no idea which one I should get. Please, anyone who has heard any of her music, will you mail me privately with your recommendations? Second problem--I need some ideas as to what little boys like for birthdays/Christmas. I want to get gifts for a friends children, but I have no idea what little boys like. One is turning six and the other is three. So far, the only thing I can think of (since I live so close to St. Louis) is Mark McGwire tshirt/Cards hats. If anyone has any other suggestions I would appreciate it. Oh, almost forgot--has anyone else read books by a Melisa Michaels? I've found two, Cold Iron and Sister To The Rain, that, assuming the cover blurb is accurate, seem to be kind of like the Bedlams Bard books, crossed with a detective novel. I ws just wondering if anyone might have read them anc could tell me if theyre any good. well, my little darlings (2nd graders today, who knows where Ill be tomorrow) are coming, gotta go. thanks for any help you can give me Aurora Dawnstar ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Sep 1998 19:23:49 -0400 From: Greg Wooledge To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: ancient heartstone & mage storms Message-ID: <19980917192349.A1668-+AT+-phoenix.local> Thea Bergermann (listen-+AT+-doso.de) wrote: > We don't know of a major eathquake in the wake of the > storms (and if it had occured (sp?), Errold's Grove would > be splinters...) and we don't know of any other > cataclysmic catastrophe aroud lake Evendim. > Any ideas what happened to stone and all and why it > *didn't* leave the world of now in a glorious showdown? First thought: several centuries elapsed between Vanyel's time and the Storms. By the time the storms came, the rift might have been healed enough so that the Storms didn't set off a major quake. toni kelly (auroradawnstar-+AT+-hotmail.com) wrote: > Second problem--I need some ideas as to what little boys like for > birthdays/Christmas. But in general, if you want to please the *kids* instead of the parents, stay away from clothes. Use toys instead. *Quiet* and *non-messy* toys, though, assuming you want to stay on the parents' good side. -- "Daddy, why do those people have to | Greg Wooledge use Microsoft Windows?" | wooledge-+AT+-kellnet.com "Don't stare, son; it's not polite." | http://www.kellnet.com/wooledge/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Sep 1998 19:07:47 EST From: "Freedom Walker" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Message-ID: <19980918000748.24990.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> Greetings to all. I must say that I was quite upset at my english teachers for NOT making me read some books. Like I just bought the book Catcher in the Rye and such books as To Kill a Mockingbird. I found out recently how good these books really are.... I wouldn't complain about being assigned a book to read now unless there are a zillion reading logs and vocab. sheets to go with it. Maybe your english teacher sees something in the book that you don't. Just as some people read romance and WE read fantasy. I have often imagioned myself in Queens Own, sometimes 'from this time to theirs' and I can tell them about our world, or that I was a Herald or a Bard. It truly isn't that far for us to do this when the world was created within a mind itself in the first place. This post is old and short. I'm sorry I'm just about 500 messages slow right now but promise I will do my best to get caught up. First my question, for all you non-fluffy people. I was wondering: I know we've argued the subject of Jody vs. Larry, but I want to know how everyone would portray the characters. Try to ignore the previous drawings. Like, how would you draw Companions? Vanyel? Stefen? Lendel? Talia? Kerowyn? Kethry? Tarma? The villians? Etc... FLUFF WARNING!!!!!!!!! <----- count 'em up!
