On the reincarnation thingy...I seem to remember what was said about not 
remembering the previous life as correct. That would explain a lot. The 
reincarnated (sp?) one would have a sense of deja vue like.
Faces, places and things would seem familiar to them. I wonder if Van 
ever gave Stef something of 'lendel's if that would have "jarred" a 
memory loose or something. Interesting thought if I do say so myself.

countries anyway. King Konstantin would probably complain about it, if 
it did.
This doesn't really change the point, if a non-monach marriages a 
monarch, he or she has to renounce any connection to his old country. 
This is the reason that Prince Phillip became an Mountbatten, and 
changed his name from Phillipos to Phillip. 
The same happened in Denmark with Prince Henrik, who had to give up his 
title in France, and changed his name form Henri to Henrik.

I have just bought ( and read ) Owlflight, and I really enjoyed it. 
While reading it I noticed the answer of our 
"being-able-to-lie-mind-to-mind discussion". Textedv. ( NOT a spoiler ):

Notice the stag says difficult, not impossible, so it would have been 
possible for Warrl to lie to Kero and Gwena to Elspeth. The question 
still is: did they lie?, but now we know it is possible.

And I am replying to this on list as opposed to privately since it is a
copyright issue and we (the Council) deal with those on list.

Weeeelll, sorry to dash your hopes, but unless you have a release from
Queen's Own, you cannot be a trondi'ir or a kestra'chern, or a Herald or a
Tayledras or a....
Unfair tho it might seem, it falls under copyright infringement and that is
something we all strive to keep from the list, as several listsibs have
shown to be the case. The whole explanation can be of course, found on the
NewbieFest, that awesome piece of informative material that several of us
have put together, and where a lot of in jokes including the sheep thing are
explained =)

Maybe Misty dear didn't have a clear picture in _her_ mind, so that's 
why it's vague and possibly contradictory.
And although Larry Dixon's pics are black and white, the one of Solaris 
sure makes her look blond.  Come to think of it, she's on the cover of 
Storm-Something-Or-Other, blond.  Maybe the women are blonde, and the 
men are dark?  Tee hee.

Fluff attack!  Not being allowed to write fanfic on this subject, I 
shall have to restrain myself, and limit it to one concept (I have this 
slight tendency to create characters that have descriptions like 
Siren/Werewolf/Immortal/Mage and Powerful Wizard/Hawkbrother/Shin'a'in 
by birth/carrying about some dead guy's memories.  (gee, that one sounds 
like Andesha.  Hmm.  Creative juices, I demand that thou goeth to work!)

stablegirl?!  Wah!  I don't even like to ride horses.  I guess I'll be

All I can say to that is learn to skip over the boring parts.  If that 
means the whole book, well, ... humph.  Yeah, the whole Ria part was 
kinda hard to watch.  Kind of like reading the part where 'Lendel 
(sniffle) dies.  'Course the part right after that is where we meet one 
of my favorite charcters ... Yfandes!
The part (back to Bedlam) where Eric is talking about the fantasy books 
he read recently (about talking white horses and ancient Aztec gods) 
made the whole book worthwhile.  How many authors can make fun of their 
own work like that?
Speaking of which, how much of Bedlam was Misty and how much Ellen Guon?

Um.  Grumble, grumble.  Can I be a Valdemaran stable-girl? Failing that, 
I shall have to be a generic stable-girl, who just happens to reside 
(and work like a dog) in a place that suspiciously (but not too 
suspiciously) resembles a place that just might have been called 
Valdemar at one time or another.

My take on the 'Lendel talking to Van is that while Van was asleep,
'Lendel /needed/ to speak to him, or the HM would be eaten up with
guilt. 
Dream-time, IMO, is where it's on another 'plane' of reality, a dream,
and not a dream... I suspect a /bit/ of divine influence helped 'Lendel,
and once he had spoken to Van he went back 'into' Stefen... Making
Stefen mutter '...love you" as he drifted back into sleep.
The /only/ reason 'Lendel /could/ speak to Van is because the god/desses
knew that in order to save Valdemar, the HM needed to be 'whole'...

Oh yes... whats the take with lifebonds? Are they 'preordained' or do
you lifebond to someone you have strong emotions for, whether love or
hate... Or does your heart /know/ that you belong, even if your head
doesn't and forge the link? Like the Companions and Choosing...
Like Vanyel re-lifebonded... Maybe the reason most people don't lifebond
more than once is that a)The god/dess isn't interested in them enough to
interfere, and b)They're so torn up over their lifebond that they
/can't/... That'd explain Sherril/Ylsa/Keren's 3 way bond...

Did Sherril and Keren lifebond?  Or did they just get together?  Hm.

I think your heart just knows....like the Talia/Dirk thing.  Its said
somewhere that Rolan thinks that they bonded the first time they met, right
after Talia was Chosen.  But neither of them knew it then...and the
pressure just started after she got her Whites for them to find that bond
and acknowledge it.

Y'know...for all that lifebonding is such a "rare" thing...a LOT of them
seem to crop up!  Van/Lendel/Stef, Ylsa/Keren, Shavri/Randi, Jisa/Treven,
Talia/Dirk, Selenay/Daren, etc. etc..

Hm...do COMPANIONS lifebond?

Interesting question!  Well, after searching my house, I can't find AotQ 
for textevd (sorry, I'll look harder for it later), but from what I 
remember, the text isn't very indicative.  IIRC, when Talia find Keren 
in her trance, she thinks back and remembers how Sherrill always seemed 
to be hovering on the edge of Keren and Ylsa.  IMHO, this could be 
indicative of either a lifebond or a really really deep crush.  Theres 
evidence on both sides--3-way bonds are rare, lifebonding twice in one 
lifetime is even rarer.  But didn't someone say that if Ylsa lived, they 
would become part of a rare 3-way lifebond?  Does anyone know who said 
this, is it someone who would know?

Okay, I'll stop rambling and give my answer--I don't think they were 
lifebonded, just that they were very very much in love.  If two 
lifebonds in a single lifetime are so rare, and Vanyel experienced it 
less than 1,000 yrs ago (no, sorry, I don't think Stefen is a 
reincarnation of 'Lendel, I think Vanyel had a rare 
2-lifebonds-in-1-lifetime), I don't think it would happen again.  What 
do all y'all think?

hum, maybe those are *all* the lifebonds of their respective times, no 
one else lifebonded, no commoners, and no other ennobled.

That made me think......I know there is a middle (merchant) class in 
Rethwellen, but what is the class system in Valdemar?  I guess theres a 
middle class by Talia's time, but what about before?  Anybody got any 
ideas?

Hi!  It's been a while since I've been able to write cause "Real Life"
snuck up from behind me, blindfolded me, tied my hands behind my back and
kidinaped me.  Sigh.  Anyway, I recently re-read Jinx high, and I realized
a couple of interesting facts (at least to me) and I figured I'd share
them.  First, there is a Mark Shepard in the story.  (I know we had a
"guest apperences" thread going on.  Umm...I'm sure there was more!  I know
there was more!  Why can't i remember!  Oh well

On with other stuff--On stories I would like to see Misty write, I
definitely would like to know more about Tannim's past, and I think would
be great to find out whats happening with Andesha.  I can't remember if he
finally decided to become a shaman or not (is that the right term?  I get
stuff like that confused...) and what adventures he's had since.

As for the "Where are we from" thread, I live in Southern New Jersey in the
middle of nowhere (or so my friends tell me.)  The area I am in is all
farmland and my family farms for a living so we aren't exactly annywhere
near civilization (Which is actually a blessing sometimes.)  Age:  18.  I
go to a college about umm 30 minutes from my house  (College=Real Life).  I
have sortof blond hair, blue eyes and average height.  I'm really not sure
about my height but I know I'm neither tall nor short.  Average.

About what I do when someone asks me what I'm reading...
Note:  Never once do my eyes leave what I'm reading.  And I only do this to
the many busybody "reading is for nerds kind of people)
Person:  What are you reading?
ME:  Without answering, I lift the cover (cause i normally read with the
cover flat against the desk)
Person:	(Pause)	Oh.  Is it good?
Me:  Yes.
Person:  What's it about?
Me:  Without answering, I lift the book and turn the back of the book
towards them (I hardly ever brought hardbacks to high school).
Person:  Are you reading it for a book report?
Me:  No.
Person:  So why are you reading it?
Me:  Cause I want to.
Person:  Oh.  (Then they walk away, and leave me alone.  And they never ask
again).

FLUFF!  (finally)
Reginabean is holding a big fluffy towel rather sheepishly, not being able
to remember who was the nice listsib who let her borrow it when she got
splooshed.  Reginabean looks around, and seeing a nice table she places the
towel on the table and places a little note:  thanks for the towel!  She
leaves a couple of hershey kisses on top of the towel along with some
chocolate chip sheep cookies.

go to a college about umm 30 minutes from my house  (College=Real Life).  I
have sortof blond hair, blue eyes and average height.  I'm really not sure
about my height but I know I'm neither tall nor short.  Average.

About what I do when someone asks me what I'm reading...
Note:  Never once do my eyes leave what I'm reading.  And I only do this to
the many busybody "reading is for nerds kind of people)
Person:  What are you reading?
ME:  Without answering, I lift the cover (cause I normally read with the
cover flat against the desk)
Person:	(Pause)	Oh.  Is it good?
Me:  Yes.
Person:  What's it about?
Me:  Without answering, I lift the book and turn the back of the book
towards them (I hardly ever brought hardbacks to high school).
Person:  Are you reading it for a book report?
Me:  No.
Person:  So why are you reading it?
Me:  Cause I want to.
Person:  Oh.  (Then they walk away, and leave me alone.  And they never ask
again).

FLUFF!  (finally)
Reginabean is holding a big fluffy towel rather sheepishly, not being able
to remember who was the nice listsib who let her borrow it when she got
splooshed.  Reginabean looks around, and seeing a nice table she places the
towel on the table and places a little note:  thanks for the towel!  She
leaves a couple of Hershey kisses on top of the towel along with some
chocolate chip sheep cookies.
