I'm actually writing something! Sigh, I really musn't let real life > keep swallowing me up like this. > > *smiles* Any comments? I /liked/ BG... Just because the other 2 weren't > as good doesn't mean we can't talk about BG as a 'stand-alone' story! I generally liked the Gryphon sieries, all 3 of them. Scince I read WG first, I certantly found it good enough to bother reading the other 2, although I think that SG could have been better. Someone was asking about Dirk vs. Van. I liked them both, nevermind that I got extremely annoyed at them at times (ducks behind convenient piller to avoid any flaming sheep). But what I tend to do in a book is find a minor character that I reallyreally like and then scour the book for any mention of them. In Hearalds it was Griffon (now THAT is a character I'd love to hear more about) and in Heraldmage it was Van's sister Lissa(wish she'd had a much bigger part). Does anyone else get attached to minor characters like that? OK, hear is a little random and completely off any topic comment. I was thinking about the technology level in the bards books, and it seems to me that though it's not as wide spred, it is about level with our own, with a few exceptions such as archatecture(mangled that word). Any comments? Hmm, what else. My copy of Owlsight is currently being passed around by several people scince I seemed to be the only one who realized that it was out and I really should figure out who has it now. No idea why you'd want to know that. Til next time Shade, aka Ceal I'm not insane, I'm in band! In the time lines it is always Reign of so and so. What do they use for months, days and stuff ? In "early" Valdemar, they used candleclocks, where a candlemark = an hour I think. The rest of the calender was the same... ? Later I didn't see them mentioning candlemarks anymore, so I guess they found more accurate ways of keeping time. Well, in LHM Teren? I think was a mind healer and I think he was Monarch's Own too. Talia could actually be considered a type of mindhealer..look at how she helped Skiff get over his claustrophobia. Besides that the only things I can think of at the moment were instances where the Heralds aided healers like the time that Van tried to commit suicide and Mardic, Donni and Savil join with the healer to heal him quickly. I am on placement and one of my tutors came out to visit me today. Well long story short, she said my placement file was worthless and had no evidence in it that I had done the things I needed to [even though there are about 6-8 lesson plans in there] my evaluations were crap and so she can not do my final assessment using it because it is not worth the paper it is written on. I have 6 days to re write my entire file, from the last 4 weeks. Then I find out that her and the head of the school are questioning my commitment to the course and to teaching just because I left early yesterday. I'd been fighting off a throat infection for 5 days and could hardly talk plus I'd been feeling ill since early that morning. I went in for two days and taught the classes I'd been assigned and only left because I was scheduled time out of the class to do some planning and evaluation. Lets just say my mood was not a good one, I kind of think that if I had Vans gifts something similar could have happened to my tutor as happened to his father in Savils garden in MPrice. [Its a tenuous link to Misty but still an ObMisty]. Later ********************************************** "Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here, we might as well dance."
