Heyla all,

     I just want to apologize to anyone who was looking forward to 
Owlsight and got the plot spoiled because I was stupid and forgot to 
warn everyone that my message discussed the plot of the book.  I don't 
think my post gave TOO much of the plot away <thinks frantically, gets a 
major headache, puts brain back on autopilot>, but it was inconsiderate 
of me not to warn people anyway.  And thank you to all the nice, 
wonderful people who replied to me and DID give the warning, so I could 
notice that I hadn't given it and give myself a mental kick in the 
posterior.  I promise to try harder to remember, really I do! <puts on 
most innocent, pathetic face possible, ends up looking like a squashed, 
overripe prune, gives up and sticks to looking sheepish (pun 
intended!)>.  So sorry again to anyone whose prospective Owlsight read 
got ruined by me.

Wow, that makes it sound like we're committing espionage or something.  
But what I mean is, can you possibly help me w/ my persona?  I'm sure 
your ideas are way more creative than mine, considering the fact that 
I'm having the biggest case of writer's block (make that writer's 
ten-ton brick) on the face of the planet.

All--Has anyone else noticed weird trouble with the Internet today around
noon CST or so?  A friend of mine was having the world's own difficult time
getting online and staying on, and a couple of other friends had the same
problem.

long time. I do know what color auburn is though! I have dark blonde

Check!  I had the same prob w/ the internet.  I can't remember exactly 
what time it was - I think late morning/early afternoon.  I do remember 
that everything was basically freezing up - I couldn't get the computer 
to go anywhere, no matter what address I typed in.  URG!  It was 
extremely exasperating.  Good thing the problem resolved itself, or I 
might have thrown civilized behavior to the winds and given it a peice 
of my mind (with a hammer, most probably)!

I'm not so sure about this one. AFAIR I never read anything about them letting a 
limb grow back. This also has to do with stimulating cell growth but to shape 
those cells in the right way, the healer would have to know something about the 
genetic code, wouldn't he? Just think of the skin and hair colour on this limb 
or the way the fingers are shaped. Just imagine you had two completely different 
hands! Or two hands with the thumbs pointing in the same direction!

If they could handle the above they could also cure unborn or newborn babies 
with genetic diseases. Kind of reshaping them in the womb. Would be a good thing 
but as I said, I don't recall any mention of this.

Yeah, I think Lew Alton from the Darkover books had this kind of problem.
What grew back 'was...not a hand.'  Of course, he wasn't being treated by
Darkovan healers, either, but by Terrans.  I personally think Darkovan
Tower healers could have done a better job, since they could have (I think)
actually repaired the genetic code that was messed up by the Sharra matrix.

Hello, all

My name is Joey and I am new to this list. I have read the SERRAted 
Edge, Urban Fantasy, Mage Storms, and Mage Winds series, and I am a HUGE 
fan of Misty. Are there any other Elvenbane fans on this list? Anyway, 
some personal stuff: I'm 22, male, straight (sorry, guys), and live in 
New Orleans, Louisiana. I've read as many books as I can get my hands on 
over the years, and don't intend to stop untill long after I have turned 
to dust. If I could be any type of character from Misty's works, I would 
be a half-elf from Elvenbane (hence the name Pereldan, which is 
Tolkien's Elvish for half-elf). 

One more thing before I go: does anyone know anything about the new 
SERRAted Edge novel Tempus Fugit?

I don't know. What I understood the Healing Gift to be was simply an 
"encouragement" process. The body knows what to do in order to heal a 
wound, so the healing giftsends energy specifically to that point and 
encourages the body to use that energy to heal, so it speeds up the 
process. The wastes of the healing are still generated normally (which is 
what kept sending Talia to sleep at the end of the Arrows Series). Now, a 
lot of this is coming from the discussion of healing (magic vs. practice) 
in Storm Warning (Rising?) between Tremane and his chief chirugen. 
Anyway, with this point of view, genetic engineeering could not be done 
solely with the healing gift.

In regards to the continuing story of the various zodiacs....

I think I'd prefer to create my own zodiac. In that case, I'd be born in 
the year of the Perpetually Cranky Hedgehog. (Psst! Psst!)

Someone, sorry, can't remember who, asked if anyone had their own
imaginary Companion.  Well, I do.  Her name is Epona, and sometimes, she
keeps me out of trouble....(only sometimes!)  I wrote a story about
Epona, about six (has it been six already!!!!!!) years ago.  Since then,
she has been sort of a nagging presence at the back of my mind.....(gee,
I hope that doesn't sound too too weird...oh well)

I have reason to be pissed for different reasons. Imagine my surprise
when I spotted the cover from WoFury on a shelf in the bookstore. Oh
joy, I thought, finally they published _Winds_ in German, but what
didn't I hear about it before...? 

Then I looked at the author's name. Names. Raymond Feist/Janny Wurts.
Kelewan-something on the subtitle. What the...? 

Apparently the german publisher (where Arrows was published some years
ago) is using the Jody Lee covers for Misty's books on other, totally 
unrelated authors (the _Oathbound_ cover on a Naomi Mitchison book). 

There should be a law against that. Misplacement of covers? Cover abuse?
It is so very misleading for a Misty fan like me... not to mention the
near cardiac arrests I experienced... ;)
