Remember me? =========================fluff========================================A tall woman in an oversized black t-shirt and black jeans comes skidding in, with a small ball of fire right behind her. She calms down enough to walk over to the newbie and greet her with towels (just in case you do get wet) and an assortment of cookies warm from the oven. A small ball of flame floats above her left shoulder. "Natha, *scat*!" "Sorry Julia, but my salamandre has managed to burn two batches already." She bids farewell to Julia, and with smiles and waves at the other newbies, leaves the rest of the cookies to be munched by whoever wants them. And remember, the nice people with the buckets mean you *no harm*. She grins and has Natha start a yummy fire in the fireplace for anyone who might get mysteriously wet *innocent look*. She then turns and heads for the newly-built practice ring right off the Hall. =============================/fluff=================================== I know its kind of old, but whoever was on the Loreena McKennitt thread--I love her too! I have The Book of Secrets and The Visitor, but I hope to get more soon since the holiday season *is* coming. ObMisty--Cover art. ooooo, don't get me started! I rather like the first two covers in the Owl series, even though Darian looks strange on the first one. But the V&H series.......ugh, I love Jody Lee's work but yeeps! those covers! Kethry in a dress she would *never* ever wear (the only dress she owns is described as being green silk), and well, Tarma is quite beautiful, IMHO. She just doesn't seem as horrible and scary as she is described in the book. And for the second one, well its mostly me being picky, but why is Keth wearing that horrible pink cape? If she was on the trail, wouldn't she wear something colored naturally that would also stay close to her body (guess who memorized BTS) ? I like how Ms. Lee put the fighting winged snake and the hawk on the back cover, it comes straight from Keth's magefight with that guy from Char's court. And, just MHO, but I LOVE the drawings of Firesong! I even like the little tufty-thing *ducking*. one more message--anyone who hasn't, please, *please* read the newbiefest! You can get the addy from any of the counselors, and probably most everyone else, it will explain so many things on the list! I was wandering through a bookstore (ooh, big surprise there) the other day, and I saw a ML book I had never read, seen, or even heard of! I grabbed it off the shelf and ran to the counter to buy it when all of a sudden I actually *looked* at it. Yes, cover art by Jody Lee, but author was not ML. Actually, I can't even remember who it was at this point, so strong was my chagrin. However, the cover looked *exactly* the way I have come to expect all ML covers to look. *shrugs and stomps off sulkily to stand in the corner, supposedly ashamed of herself, until you see the corner of BtS sticking out of her oversized pockets* Zephyr ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Nov 1998 20:35:37 PST From: "Oceania Angels" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Genetic Healing/Fluff/Elspeth's eyes Message-ID: <19981111043538.721.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> HEyla all! Sorana switched to her Flion form and #POUNCED# on the newbie Taleisin. The _wet_ newbie Talesin. *ugh* Sorana changed back to human form and helped the wet, squashed newbie up. "Heyla! Welcome to the Misty list! They really soaked you good didn't they? I think you're going to need another towel." Sorana hands him a sheep towel that baas at him. "That should help. Hmm...You might want to watch out for a jester bearing food. He likes to pour it on Newbies. Anyways, have fun!" Sorana bounds through the Hall in Flion form looking for the next newbie. *Aha! There she is!* With a flying leap she #POUNCES# the newbie *~a~*. Then, she becomes human again and helps the newbie up. "Heyla! Welcome to the Misty list! Here's a towel for when you get sploshed. You're very lucky it hasn't happened yet." She hands the newbie a sheep towel. It baas at *~a~*. "Watch out for jesters bearing plates of food. There's one around here somewhere that likes to dump it on newbies. I gotta go now. I have an appointment with a another newbie that needs pouncing. Have fun!" Sorana sneaks up behind the newbie that's currently hiding under an oiled covering, and #POUNCES# her! Once she helps the newbie, she begins her welcoming speech. (repetitive I know, but I like to personalize these things. :)) "Heyla! Welcome to the Misty list! Good idea having an oiled cover. I don't think anyone's thought of that before. You might get wet anyway, so here's a towel." She hands her a baaing sheep towel. "Watch out for a jester carrying food. He likes to dump it on newbies. Have fun and have more fun!" :) End fluff I know Elspeth's eyes are brown. I remember reading it. I'll go get some textevd for that. BRB! Aaak! Look at this! On page 64 of AoQ it decribes Elspeth as "a little of about seven with chestnut hair, blue eyes....." I never remembered seeing that before. Well, I guess Misty just forgot in the other books. I know she done that before. I can't think of any examples at the moment though. Ah, well. Chocolate sheep to all! I'm heading for the hot springs! :) Stars light your path, Sorana S. I had the same experience with one of the LHM covers on a Dave Duncan book. My excited scream (to my sister) rang through the whole book shop: "LOOK WHAT THEY FINALLY PUBLISHED!!!!!!!! ISN'T THAT GREAT!!!! IT'S .... dave duncan." Oh, the funny looks I got when I nearly broke down and cried! I think those Weird German Publishers (TM) (just like the Weird German Scientists (TM)) are doing this on purpose to kill off the fantasy fans so they can go back to publishing sappy romance novels. ***** FKZFF err, I mean FLUFF ****** > Sorana took Flion form and snuck up on the newbie known as Ambermoon. >"... Just a warning: There's a jester around here dumping food on newbies and >the Lady of the Waterbourne or her High Priestess should be around soon >to splosh you. You can't do much about the Lady getting you, but keep an >eye out for that jester.... Torell, his big ears everywhere, has overheard - by mere accident - that comment. "Can do something about that jester, can you?" he mutters and dumps a bowl of custard - a present from Yvonne, thanks again - on the Newbie Ambermoon. "Enjoy it, this is the best custard I ever had", he explains, "if you have any questions concerning the list, just wait until the Enchanted Bucket (TM) comes by and asked the attached Lady. She is a nice one and will tell you whom to ask." "No one can avoid the jester", he mutters very pleased with himself. ********* END OF FLUFF ********** Oops, looks like there is no ObMisty content in my mail. Arrrgh! Must think, must think.
