Message-ID: <2e1cece.365ed90e-+AT+-aol.com> Ok, this is ANOTHER de-lurking short message, but I care not. :-P Um, no one seems to talk about the Bardic Voices books a whole lot. Is it that most of you feel they are somewhat....under par, is that it? Well, I LIKE them, so there. Anyway, can someone tell me the names of all the Bardic Voices novels, puh-leeze? Tankyou much. (g) It could probably work for Velarth. I have made and eaten these, myself, and they're delicious. Meatrolls, Pernese or Otherwise 2 cans of Pilsbury crescent rolls small package of ground beef (or meat of preference) half an onion, chopped Monterey Jack cheese or preferred cheese 1/4 cup of flour with seasonings of your preference mixed into it some mushrooms, chopped (I prefer Portobello.) Worcestershire sauce to taste Grate the cheese, if it needs to be grated. Set it aside. Saute the chopped onions and mushrooms in a saucepan. When they are done, add the ground meat and cook until it is brown. Add the seasoned flour and stir it in. Drain the grease from the meat and leave the meat in the saucepan under low heat. Add some Worcestershire sauce and mix well. Bash the Pilsbury tube against your countertop and unroll the crescent roll triangles. Separate them and lay them out on a couple of cookie sheets. It is best to do this while they are still a bit cold, as they stick to each other and tear when they are warm. Turn off the heat under the meat and drop a spoonful of meat mixture into each triangle of dough. Cover each spoonful of meat with some grated cheese. Fold the triangles over the meat mixture and make sure the ends stick to each other. Bake as directed on the Crescent Roll tube. Serve with chilled Benden White and roast wherry, and enjoy. (They're also good by themselves with a Coke!) Let's see, the first is called_Bardic Voices:The Lark and the Wren_. After that we have _The Robin and the Kestrel_, _The Eagle and the Nightengale_, and _Four and Twenty Blackbirds_. There is a Bardic Choices novel, the one with Raven... _A Cast of Corbies_, that's it. 4&20 doesn't exactly fir with the rest of the series, but it's really very good, I think. Bye, and I hope that everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving, even if you don't celebrate the holiday! Who did that? And does it say anywhere? Was it just an artificial selection kind of thing? Or more like "magical engineering"? In whichever winds book has the history-tapestries (the first, I think--Winds of Fate) the Sundering is recounted. Basically one of the arguments against magic was that the horses were all that could be wished, and it wasn't worth the risk on the bond birds. That certainly implies that magic was originally used. I have no doubt that later the Shin'a'in continued to improve on them, just not using magic. Later! Wouldn't their Harvest Festival be comparible? And they certainly have one; I know it's mentioned repeatedly in Owlsight, and probably in the others as well. They have a feast, and I think some sort of festival in the town square. Oh, and how old do you think Kero would be by the time of the Owl series? Most of the rest of this is about Owlsight, and there may be some spoilers, so if you haven't read it, you should probably just delete this post now. BTW, for those of you who read Owlflight and didn't like it, I'd definitely read Owlsight anyway. It seemed much better to me. :) Anyway, I just finished it, and /much/ preffered it to its predecessor(sp?). Darian's 18, so he's not so much of a child, which makes the book much less juvenile (I don't know if I'd /quite/ consider him a fully matured man yet, but he's close). And I was really happy that one of the main characters was a Healer since I've been curious about that for a long time. I also liked it because the old chars that reappeared hadn't changed entirely. Firesong was a bit different, but only as he would have been after what he went through. Kero seemed a bit more, for lack of a better word, severe (she seemed to be a bit obsessed with insubordination, rather than a person doing what was right, which she wasn't before, IMO), but since we were seeing her through the eyes of Darian and Keisha, this is also understandable. It wasn't as exiting as some of the other trilogies, of a certainty, and I didn't get quite as attached to the people (but then, I compare everything to the LHM, and I don't think I've been as attached to /anyone/ else as I was to Van), but it was definitely enjoyable. Very worth reading. :-) Do you know what I /really/ hate? (well, you probably don't want to, but in that case, you always have the choice of not reading it if my ranting offends you:) When I'm reading at school, people come up to me and ask what I'm reading. I hold up the book so they can see the title and they mispronounce it--which is pretty sad, considering how difficult it is to mis-pronounce the words "Rivan" and "codex"...it doesn't seem like there are too many ways they could be seen, but they manage to say them wrong. Then they ask what it's about, even though they don't care, and when told it's a history of a twlve book series, and it would take far to long to explain all twelve of them, particularly since one covers seven thousand years, they just stare stupidly and comment on how /they'd/ never read anything that long, "'cus them there books are plum ignrnt." --I can't stand the local grammar and accents: they make me physically ill. Then, most absurdly, they'll ask what /page number/ I'm on! It's rather pathetic when someone counts the pages of the books they read, think you not?! Why in the Havens would they care about the number of pages? Li'ha'eer, it's frustrating being around illiterate swine! Sorry to anyone who's actually read that (I'm sure there aren't many of you:) and mint chocolate sheep to all of you.
