I have a lttle bit of time so I thught I'd limber up those fingers of mine and write a post! Woo hoo! (or 'Oh no, not again!' from some, depending on their natures) *Yvonne, using a bunch of Fancy Footwork (tm) manages to eel her way behind one ShadowWolf, and-* ~~~SPLOSH~~~ Woo hoo! 'Another one bites the dust..' Although it seems really strange ~~~SPLOSH~~~ing someone who's been around longer than I! Maybe I should start on the Councilors ... To all the Newbies that are saying 'Sorry I have no use-name!' or such, don't feel obligated to. I use my RL name - Yvonne, or my middle name - Mhairi - usually. Or if I'm feeling creative I'll use a persona name from one of my PbEMs. ;P And I finally paid off my library fines!! All $28.50 of them! I'm so excited to be allowed to read again!! *dances for joy gracefully on pointe until she slips on a wet spot and falls over* Yes, this is how I usually dance. Including the clumsy fall over part at the end. Enough with Fluff! What comes next is about Fiddler Fair. If you haven't read it, then you may not want to read what comes next. ;P Um, let's see, I read Fiddler Fair! (Ok, so I'm 1\2 way through) 'Aliens Ate my Pickup' was great! I loved the fact that Misty wrote herself in. I wonder if she really DID let off all those fireworks at one point? I didn't understand 'Lawrence of Arabia' or whatever much, but that's probibly because I haven't seen the movie yet. *ducks her head and puts up a duct-tape umbrella to avoid all the 'WHAT?!'s* I'm stalling at the Arthur ones. I haven't had a very good time with King Arthur's stories. I've never been able to get through them too well. Yes, I'm half way through 'Mists of Avalon' but I just haven't been able to pick it up and finish it. I started it last Christmas or thereabouts. What comes next is about Owlflight. If you haven't read Owlflight then you may not want to read what comes next! :P I didn't find it childish. I found it kinda bland, like porridge. There was no punch-in-the-gut reaction anywhere. The mage died and I was like, "Oh, ok." Darian was caught by the bandits, and I was like, "Oh, ok." I wasn't expecting another LHM or Arrows, or even another T&K, but I was expecting a good read. I found myself drifting away, going to watch TV, going out, playing on the computer, et cetera, and usually reading Misty I'm glued to my seat and have to be pried away with a crowbar. As for him getting adopted into K'Vala, well, that WAS kinda fast. Actually, EVERYTHING concerning Darian happened fast. I got the impression that everything took place over 3 or 4 days only. That's a short period of time for someone to get over the loss of a mentor and friend, get adopted into a Tayledras Clan and then participate in a raid against their former village. I'm sure it wasn't that short, but it seemed that way. I am looking forward to reading Owlflight, if only to see a pic of Kero looking "like a milkmaid of vallium". ;P Chocolate sheep with minty filling to all! (like an After-Eight or a Junior Mint) Yvonne Goddess of Kelpies, Selkies and the Water-Borne Carrier of the Enchanted Bucket (tm) Knight of Fluff and Lady of the OOUH Head of the Albertan CfWD Headquarters ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I will live in thy heart, die in thy lap and be buried in thy eyes; and moreover I will go with thee to thy uncle's. -Benedick, Much Ado About Nothing, Act V, scene 2 ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Nov 1998 08:31:07 -0500 From: "Vrondi" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: return of an oldbie from long ago Message-ID: <199811301335.NAA13049-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk> *the air ripples, as fog creeps in and begins to solidify... Revealing.... Vrondi* Heyla all, I dunno who's still here. I was on the Misty List onc elong ago, and have popped in now and again. I've been reading Misty's books since '89. WAy back then, ,my best friend and I sat in class, both reading Arrows of the Queen at once with pages sticking up in the middle of the book between us. The last several i haven't liked as well, but I may have simply grown out of them. I still dig out the Arrows, LHM, and Tarma and Kethry stories now and then for some good fun reading. anyway, Wind To Thy Wings. -Vrondi Lady of Amber and Marigold, One with the Air, Keeper of the Trees. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Nov 1998 08:48:28 -0500 From: Paige Preston-Walker To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Companion's influence Message-ID: <3662A22C.73EB-+AT+-sympatico.ca> Peter Allen wrote: > > Windy wrote: > >It was clearly stated that > >Rubrik had never considered that Companions could be reincarnated Heralds. > >But, IIRC, somewhere in one of the LHM books (maybe 3?), someone (Vanyel?) > >said that when a Herald died, he or she could choose to be one of a few > >things, including a Companion. Has my memory failed me? > > I think that this is another one of the Companions' ability to influence the thinking of the people that live in Valdemar. The people of Valdemar (non-Heralds), seem to belive only that the Companions are special horses, or, at times, just white horses. IIRC, the Companions to ordinary people are the emblem of the Heralds. Actually, IIRC, when Vanyel told Stef that Heralds get a choice after the die he...umm...was dead at the time. It's the last bit of Magics Price, that this occurs in. I think. -- Paige proud to be Outlandish (to e-mail double the p and take out the "reston") ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 1799 **********************************
