heyla friends,

	I just started reading Owlflight. It has been a long time since i read
Stormbreaking and I have some questions.. so if you haven't read
Stormbreaking stop reading this right now...









OKAY- I remember that Firesong was burned at the end so that he always wore
a mask over his face. And I remember that Karal was blinded, Altra
survived, and Florian died. But mainly all I remember is that I cried a
whole lot. Vanyel is no longer in Sorrows.. what happened to him.. he
couldn't be killed since he was already dead right? and what happened to
Need? Basically- can someone give me a short recap of what happened to the
characters at the end of the book. About how much time do you think has
passed between the end of that book and Owlflight?

Let's see how well the memory serves:
I believe that Vanyel went on to the Havens.  There was mention about going off
to a deserved rest.  Same with Need. After being stuck in a sword for centuries,
she deserves the Havens.  Florian is coming back.  He made sure to tell Karal
that if he saw a young Herald in 15 years....   Dawnfire and Tre'valen can't
show up anymore(overstepping bounds, I think.)  An'desha went back to the plains
to become a shaman (so said in Owlsight.)  (Granted, I don't have the books with
me, so if you have quotes to refute/prove, let me know.)

I've been quite busy the last couple of days (or is it weeks? Tsk, lost my 
feeling for time) and therefore, I have to welcome a lot of Newbies. But bear 
with me, there is an ObMisty at the End.

"Hi, I'm Starspirit. I'm a newbie - to the list and to Misty books <peeks from 
behind a sheep...pleasedontkillmepleasedontkillme>"
"Don't worry", says the little man with the bells on his hat who has also sought 
refuge behind the same sheep, "we are really a very friendly people around here. 
Only the rituals of greeting Newbies are a little ... strange, you know." With 
that, he places a strawberry tartlet on Starspirits head and hurls some of the 
snow into her face. "Welcome", she hears him shout as he runs off.

<(Sorry I don't have an interesting name, I haven't thought of one yet!)
"That's okay with me. Be welcome and ask the Councilors of Mist if anything is 
unclear", Torell, the Jester tells L.J. and hands over a fiery orange snowball 
to the Newbie who smiles in gratitude until the snowball starts melting and 
reveals itself as tangerine jelly.

"Another Newbie, I presume", says Torell, the Jester, all clad in camouflage 
white - with all the snow around, this colour is most suitable to sneak up on 
unaware people. The only colour on his person is the bowl of Ginger Ale Fruit 
Cocktail. Well, it isn't for long because - naturally - he dumped it on 
ShadowWolf. "Oops, you have been around for some while", says Torell, "and 
sploshed. That makes you officially an Oldbie." 

Only the broad grin and the slight tinkling of the bells on his hat give away 
Torell's current position. This explains why he is suddenly hit by a snow 
missile. "Incoming!" booms a bass voice. 
"Thank you so much", Torell shouts back, "I'm not a Herald, I'm a Jester!" With 
that he starts hurling snowball back at Wolfshadow. Unfortunately, some of them 
contain a little food, you see, Torell is very close to the tables.
"Welcome", says a dark voice behind Wolfshadow, "another Sisters fan?" 
The voice belongs to Shantaya Autumnleaf who is neither affected nor touched by 
all the snow and other objects flying around her. 
"I appologize for my Jester", the woman in shades of green continues in her 
husky voice, "he forgot to mention the Newbiefest at 
http://www.ling.udel.edu/hyde/pers/misty/newbiefest.html Read it and you'll 
understand lots of things."

Now, here comes my ObMisty:
I'm nearing the end of Storm Breaking (possible spoiler!). Darkwind was thinking 
about the Velgarth Gods and that it was impossible to know what they had in 
mind, that they were planning for a far future. Whatever happened now (outer 
circumstance like the Storms) was part of those long-term plans even if it was 
hard for the people to live through. If they came up with a solution to their 
problems the better. And it suddenly occurred to me that the Star-Eyed and 
V'kandis were Lackey and Dixon. It made sense because if the Gods had planned 
all that was happening the Gods must be the authors of the book. When I write my 
stories my characters often act or react in ways I never intended them to act or 
react. Maybe the same happens to Misty sometimes as well. SHe is the one who 
lays out the scheme and lets her creations act as they want. 

I hope this does not sound too much like a fever halluzination (I have a cold).
In this case, I have another ObMisty :) Did you ever notice how she manages to 
safe the/her world and nearly all her characters on the last five to three 
pages? ;p

Better go now before my computer goes up in flames!

		Well personally when I picked up my first misty book (The
Black Griffin)about 2 years ago, I did so with reluctance.  It was laying in
my apartment (my ex-wife had picked it up and never read it) and I was out
of everything else to read.  So I picked it up and have been reading the
series in chronological order ever since.  Recently I've just finished the
arrows trilogy.  It helped me a lot when you read it in chronological order
because the history doesn't have to be explained to you.  Some of the later
books though to throw some interesting curves into the story, but I've never
once had a very serious question about the series.
		I especially enjoy when you pick up on little tie ins
between the books, from the earlier times to the later times.

	Larry (no cool names thought up as yet but I'm working on a really
neat one) ;)

Hmm...I do need an obmisty. Okay, here's one.  I have been re-reading 
Oathbound and just finished the bit with the demon Thalhkarsh. I was 
wonder if anyone has counted the separate scenes involving demons? Also, 
not wanting to get into a religious debate, but in Velgarth are demons 
equal to gods or are they created beings?

Heyla all, and merry meet!  I'm in a cheerful mood--I have lousy grades, 
but my lousy English grade isn't my fault.  I forgot to make up a test 
so I have a zero for a test grade which led to a d in the class....  Um, 
the point is that I'm actully resigned to all of this, and for some 
reason I don't quite understand, I'm perky.  Which I would not normally 
confess to.  Strange.  Anyway.

I too love the Di Tregarde books, (thanks Amy!--They're getting passed 
around the area at the moment) and I read "Satanic, Versus".  I wish for 
more novels... a short story just doesn't appease me!  So I eagerly 
await the novel about Andre, because he's one of the reasons I love the 
Di books so much.

immediately reincarnated.  That's why An'desha and Karal couldn't talk

Oh, BTW...Shana, Vanyel didn't die at the end of Storm Breaking. He was 
released from his duty as protector of the Forest of 
Sorrows...apparently, whatever deity decided to put him there forgot 
about him. Neither he, Stef, nor Gwena were supposed to be there for so 
long. Dawnfire and Tre'valen were no longer allowed to come off the 
Moonpaths. (something like that) IIRC, it was because they overstepped 
their boundaries as Avatars when they helped sheild the mage circle. I 
don't really remember about the others, I'd have to go research, but I'm 
sure there're others who have the info on hand.

Gwena??  You mean Yfandes??

Sorry... i may be totally wrong, i never got to storm breaking... but from
the context of what you're saying i think you mean yfandes...

And I know this is completely off subject, but does anyone know some good
remedies for stomach flu?  I've got a whopper of a case here... and while
i'm feeling better <i slept most of the day> my whole system still feels
phucked.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Well I have a question concerning the Mage Wars books. Does anyone know what happened to Karal at the end?. Also, I remember Florian saying that he was going to come back as a Herald, and that Firesong went to k'Leysha with Silverfox.

Also, on page 290 of Storm Rising, Talia was visiting Karal:

' "You are something of a puzzle young priest," she said at last. "You are the onl yperson I have ever encountered that has a Companion speaking with him who was not also Chosen. I wish I knew why" '.

So, what does everyone think of that. I know that Florian was meant to be helping Karal and advising him, but is there more too it. Also, what about Natoli?. I think Elspeth wondered why she was Chosen. Did it ever mention why?.

    Hey, ~I~ liked Bardic Voices! Course, I've only read the first three.
Lessee, in The Lark and the Wren, I particuliarly liked: the Ghost, Rune's
teacher, the ladies at the pleasure hall, Kestrel *embarrassed blush*, his
cousin's beaviour at his wedding, uh... The Robin and the Kestrel I haven't
read for awhile, but I remember enjoying it. And in The Eagle and the
Nightingale, I really liked both main characters and the place where
Nightingale worked.... can't remember the name. *sigh* Looks like I'll have
to reread them, even though my parents have unexpectedly bought me 6 new
books, my friend Katie lent me Summon the Keeper, and I may or may not
borrow Owlflight from Amy...

spot with a nice, large expanse of wonderfully blank vertical space. Elsa
starts drawing on the wall.

welll... according to misty, all of them high-tailed to the bermudas and never
come back... :)

i don't know. i always figured the time to be 4 years... but that could be
because of the time span bet OF and OS...

oh and on Fiddler Fair...
did anyone feel that the writing there was better than OF? and does anyone other
than me wish to see the "Balance" story lengthened? it seemed a bit fast...
btw, how did james dean die? and what happened at deraa with lawrence of arabia?
sorry, i don't know those two very well...
