Here are a few: 1) Why are Companions born white? I thought that power bleached over time? 2) I know I will get flamed for bringing this back up, but I have to say: On the "is Lendel Stefen?" thread: Storm Rising, softcover, the clincher thing at the beginning (and somewhere in the book, I just can't find it--help?) "All [Firesong's] adult life, he had cherished a secret longing, born when he had learned about his ancestor Vanyel and the love and lifebonding that had lasted through time and across the ages with his beloved Tylendel-Stefen." If that doesn't prove it to ya'll non-believers, nothing will! ;-) 3) are there any Heralds with pets? 4) Besides Talia, are there any Heralds who were NOT in Haven when they were Chosen? (Note: the master cast list I have also includes the votes from "what if the Valdemar books were made into a Muppet movie?" discussion, about which I will only say this: Miss Piggy as Van's mom.) I'm also going to re-issue the same offer about Misty-related humor files. Does anybody know if the Sword of Knowledge trilogy, one of which Misty co-authored, is any good? I've had someone offer to lend it to me, but I've got so much stuff I want to read right now that I don't want to be sidetracked by something bad. Now, there's something that has struck me several times since I began reading Misty's work...She writes exhaustion beautifully. I mean, when she tells you that a character is tired, you FEEL tired (at least I do...). However, there are times, for the sake of her characters that I really wish she didn't use this particular gift as much as she does. Was it just me, or was Van exhausted and at the end of his reserves for the entirety of Magic's Promise? He'd get recharged, then lose it in the next ten minutes, it seemed. Also, Diana Tregarde seems to be tired for most of the book of Burning Water as well. Oh well. Strange thoughts strike me after very little sleep, I suppose. I am somewhat new to Mercedes Lackey. I was introduced to her work about 3 months ago. I have been HOOKED since. I have read the following trilogies; Last Herald Mage, Arrows of the Queen, Mage Winds and have just started the first book of the Mage Storms (Storm Warning.) It is GREAT to find a group of people, such as yourselves who are as addicted to Misty as I am ;-) Please forgive me if this has been discussed already, but I was curious about something... Obviously the Companions are the spirits of dead Heralds (It took me until Sayvil came along to realize it.. Hay, gimme a break, Im still upset about Van dying!) If it tells you in the books I havn't read yet, PLEASE don't give it away for me ;P But if no other books go into it, I was curious...Which Herald, do you think is which Companion? :> Sayvil = OBVIOUSLY Savil, Vanyel's Aunt. Well, I hope to Have many wonderful conversations with all of you ;-) Zhai'helleva, Flamedancer P.S. I was wondering if it was possible to make something standard on all of the E-Mail's sent out on this String. I am having a hard time setting up my Mail Filters because it doesn't give me the option of sorting by the "REPLY TO:" section. Which seems to be the only constant on all of these E-Mails. Perhaps start each subject with Misty? Just trying to make it easier for all of us to be organized ;-) Oh yea! survey also ;-) Misty has the rare ability to draw me physically and emotionally into her books. Not only do I "read" her books, I experience them. I feel like I'm there with Van, facing the reincarnation of Ma'ar. I was there holding the limp body of 'Lendel at the bottom of the Temple. This brings me to my survey question. Which characters death affected you the most. For me, my example rings true. When 'Lendel died, I was DEVESTATED. I felt for Van, I felt for Savil, I felt for everyone 'Lendel ever touched with his light. I was an emotional WRECK for the rest of that series (not just that book.) This was odd for me, cause I'm NOT an emotional person.. Anywase, I'm getting choked up just thinking about it ;/ ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 1817 **********************************
