Message-ID: <19990103044325.4708.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> ::Enter a tall, slender woman with frizzy, red-brown hair. She immediately collapses and spontaneously creates some hot chocolate.:: It's similar to spontaneous combustion, but not quite. Anyway. I have had the most stressful holiday! It's almost a relief to get back to school. Almost. Feel free to skip the following rant, as it is probably incoherent and depressing. ~*BEGIN RANT*~ First, my relatives came to visit. The ones who named their four children Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. I'm sorry, but naming your children after the four Gospel writers is a bit much. All went well, until New Year's eve. There was a party of three, one of whom is this guy I've loved pretty much since I met him. Stressed? Me? Of course not. My father quits his nearly six figure job. And then my cat gets killed. (I don't even want to discuss that.) And if my sister pisses me off one more time today, I'm going to lose it, and the mass murder of everyone in my immediate family will undoubtedly make the headlines. Good to get THAT our of my system. I feel better already. ~*END RANT*~ I got Sacred Ground from the library. It ws very very very very good and I liked it very very very very much. Is that enough verys? I thought it was great because it was so different from her previous books, in many ways. But I think that making whats-his-name (you know, the Cherokee love interest) change sides so quickly was a bit much. He changed his entire attitude in just a few days. Right. Moving on.... I've been going through Misty withdrawl lately, because one can only read everything she's written once a week without losing my mind, so it was fabulous to read something I hadn't before. And I finally have some money (hooray!) so I might go to the bookstore next weekend and ::gasp:: buy some books! Does anybody know if Polgara the Sorceress is out in pb yet? I can't afford both it and the Rivan Codex in hardcover. And I need more copies of LHM, because mine are held together by tape. Layers of it. I'm sure the original cover is under there somewhere...... Speaking of money, my parents are forcing me to get a job this summer. Bookeeping. That means nine to five, nice clothes. I don't own any nice clothes! Okay, I have a few, but exaggeration is serving my cause. Bookeeping? Me? Are they serious? Apparently. I enjoy my life as a bum, but it seems to be at an end. This does however, mean I'll have money for college. Oh goodie. I suppose that's enough from me. I mentioned Misy somehwere up there, so I don't have to thing of an ObMisty (thank goodness, I can't think right now) Wind to thy wings, and I hope everyone had a happy holiday, Rhiannon Shadowsong ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 3 Jan 1999 03:56:46 -0500 (EST) From: amythystfire-+AT+-email.com To: "Lackey's Email List" Subject: Re: MERCEDES-LACKEY digest 1828 Message-ID: <9901030356460G.06488-+AT+-webc02.globecomm.net> > <>< > > I liked the Storms series very much, myself. My only real problem with it is the segments in which Firesong is bemoaning his lack of a lifebond and behaving like a general idiot. I kept on wanting to shake him and say "Get over it!"< OOHH! I agree he was being such a twit! Very self centered and that was not the imresion the Moondance (LHM) gave. From expieriencing Moondance one would think that Healer-Adepts were caring and open minded as well as open hearted. Firesong is Anything but. I'll will grant that his power gives him "braging rights" he takes it just a bit too far (as Elspeth pointed out). Sorry I LOVE all of Misty's Valdemer series and can ramble for a while if given a topic! :-) ><>< > >The Tolkein series was, I believe, animated by Japanese artists, as was The Last Unicorn, and I could concievably see Misty's books animated in a similar style. I don't care for how most of the faces were done, but Eowyn, Amalthea, and Lir remind me vaguely of some of Misty's characters.< I'm sorry what I ment by "Japaneese Animation" is that every bit of Japaneese animation I have ever seen has been VERY real and life like. After the first few minutes it stoped being a catoon/animated picture and became almost as real (sometimes more so) than film movies. I feel that even though Disney and the makers of Prince of Egypt are quite talented they wont do justice to a Misty story. >Nicholson doesn't have the dignity for Orthallen; < Oh I don't know I think he could pull it off. Has anyone ever seen A Christmas Story? What is the mane of the gut that played Ralpy's Father? I think he would be perfect as Within. Speaking of Withen, Yes I understand the reason behind the way he raised Van, but i still fell that he should have been a little less colder and let Van know that he counted (to Withen) as something more than an object. Well thats enough for me I only have so many cents to go around *LOL*. Amythystfire ----------------------------------------------- FREE! A friend of mine has something similiar to MS and gets books from there. The only problem with their format is you need a special type of player to listen to them. Amazon.com has all her books in paper format, and since they ship world wide. Almost anyone should be able to get a copy through them. (and their prices are much better than the Mall Stores. I am sorry about your cat. I have lost many pets over the last 34 years, and I can say that I still miss all of them. The loss does become more bearable with time (I know it doesn't help now...It never does really) Try not to think of your cat as you last saw him/her. Try to think of him/her as they were on any other day. amythystfire-+AT+-email.com wrote: > I liked the Storms series very much, myself. Firesong was the one spoiler of it for me too. But remember, it was the effects of the Mage Storms on him that caused much of what he went through. And yes, he is a bit self-centered, but when he is needed, he drops everything to be where he needs to be. He does complain, but he is caring and open hearted. Watching Hercules last night, I was struck by how Aries looks. Add a little grey to the hair, get rid of the mustache, add some seams to his face, and put him in leather practice armor and Whola. Alberich. And of course give him a "Karsite accent" whatever that would sound like. I do think Lucy Lawless would be a great Kero. Renee, however, I would see as Kethry. She doesn't look tough enough to be Kero. I am on furlough this week. That means that I get to spend all day with my housemates. Do you think I can last a week without killing or seriously maiming all but the baby. Place your bets and stay tuned. Same Misty-Time. IT's been awhile since I read any of Misty's books. I don't always have the time to read. But now that it's the slow season where I work. I can catch. I think the last book I read was Wheels of Fire with Mark Shepard. Which I liked a lot!!! Bright Blessings to you all!!!
