I was wondering if anyone has compiled or is trying to a list of Shin-a-in quotes? I LOVE quotes! So I was hoping........ Okay. Yes, I did hear about Mystic Circle. And I was told that they were not accepting new members right now because they had so many people on. I can see where having too many might make it worse instead of better. I think what I will do is come up with just some general rules. Like no killing of permanent characters. No more than four new characters to a person. That way no one is 'killed' off the list if it comes to that (which I hope not I like peace) Only four characters because if a lot of people join (doubtful) They have to be able to keep the story straight. I would not allow sudden making of new places or major events (major earthquakes, hurricanes, army invasions, etc.) unless I were consulted first. And I'd likely just have them look at Mel's rules of thumb just off hand if they haven't already to apply what is applicable because generally she did a great job with that and I doubt anyone could say it better. I wonder who I need permission from to do that? And as for the places, I don't know. For a while I will need help making them and I don't know how I am going to go about doing that..... but I think another RP list wouldn't be a bad thing considering how the Mystic Circle picked up so well.... But I am open to advice and change.... way open so... I guess I shall start there. It's as good a start as any I suppose! lol. I have been reading Misty for a little over a year now and I love her work! I am currently reading Owlflight. I also have been collecting sheep for about two years now, and I have a collection of 36 stuffed, beanie babies, candles, glass, and porcelain sheep. They are my favorite animals. For anyone who is collecting sheep quotes, did you get the one on page 156 of AotQ where Jadus asks Talia if she knows the Holderkin sheep calming song? The whole sheep song is in the back of AFall on page 297. I'm not sure if it's in every AFall, but I'll be glad to send it to anyone. Ok Obmisty, Were Skif and Nyara lifebonded of just deeply in love? I couldn't tell with them. I could tell with Elspeth and Darkwind because Elspeth was briefly attracted to Firesong, but with Skif and Nyara, Skif was dreaming about her and always thinking about her. In case you it hasn't happened yet, watch out for people carrying buckets ;) I believe that Stefan or Van said in the Sorrows that Skif and Nyara were, although very deeply in love, it was not a lifebond. It was a lovebond which was different. I can't quite remember the differences. Stefan said that a Lifebond was often uncomfortable, & inconveniant, and the only reason that people thought that this was the ultimate happiness was because that's the way poets & bards interpret it. He said that a true Lovebond was rarer & more difficult to keep up because you didn't know what the other was feeling, etc. If you want the full explanition, it's on pgs. 121-125 of Winds of Fury. I blame it on the software *g* > > As for an ObMisty, in Velgarth, Misty doesn't do much with the traditional mythic creatures... except in the Pelagirs. I remember seeing a basilisk in the Winds books, and then the firebird. Can anyone think of any other creatures that are in there or perhaps you would want to see in there :). I want some unicorns, but we already have Companions, sooo... :) > > Going to play in the snow, > > > Wintershard > Councilor of Mist > http://www.herald.co.uk/local_info/rules_thumb.html > http://www.ling.udel.edu/hyde/pers/misty/newbiefest.html > Oopsie... *that* quote came out funny... ::shrug:: Anywho, In Wheels of Fire (Errr, I *THINK* that's the name of the book, it's the first Serrated Edge book) at the end the Sidhe took the kids to see a unicorn to help them get over the sucky events which happened in the book... * -------------------------------------------------------------------- * "Eventually we come to a point where High Science becomes indistinguishable from High Magick" -NOT misquoting A.C. First I'd like to say welcome to all the newbies who have joined the list since I last posted, which was a while ago! Guess what?! I am so proud hehehe. I got my mum (of all people) reading LHM and she really likes them and asked me what the next ones were. Yay, someone I can talk to in real life who reads the same books as me. It's sad that most of my friends don't read anything but magazines! :-). Okay but anyway my mother brought up something that I thought I'd ask you guys. She asked me what I reckoned was wrong with Randale (he kinda faded away, was in pain, was tired all the time). I suggested maybe a type of cancer but she said but then why would he be the first person to get it? Wouldn't the healers know what it was if thats what he had? So what do you think? And also, I have forgotten something... If Jisa wasn't Randales, then how was she heir? Did they just pretend she was? I hope this works because of the many months I've been on this list I have never written a post that wasn't a reply to someone elses! Message-ID: <19990201212110.11517.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> Heyla! I'm back from writing my Diploma Exams! I hate them! Well, I'm going to get down to business. This spoiler space is about the Firebird and then I'm going to talk about the Misty CD's. S P O I L E R S p A C E I read the Firebird over the course of the last two weeks of January (during the days off of my Exams)and I loved it. I think it is one of her better written novels (aside from the Mage Winds, and Storms trilogy)and I think that it is a good exampple on how some people base relationships merely on looks instead of finding out the time to get to *know* (and I'm not meaning sexually *know* the person) the personality. Here's my question on the Firebird, it was asked but never answered. Why couldn't Illya hear the animals talking (when he was living in the boyar's house with Tatiana) even though the vixen and the nightingale showed up and he could here *them* talk? It_was_right after he admitted to himself that he loved the Firebird and NOT Tatiana, so maybe that was the secret key? Does anybody know? S P O I L E R S P A C E Anyways, on to the CD's! I think that my absolute two favorite ones are: Lovers, Lore and Loss, and By The Sword. I think my favorite songs from Lovers, Lore and Loss are Chosen One, Cost of the Crown, One Answer (How come all of the sad songs are the best?), and Maiden's Hope. Out of By The Sword it has to be the song Warrior/Ride. I'm not quite sure what the title is, but I'll know by tonight. The lyrics (or at least the chorus) are: Ride, warrior ride, With your blade by your side!. Follow on your spirit steed, While wounds darken and bleed, Drink the wind as you fly, Here the night beasts cry, Though tears run with the rein, Down the horses mane. Well, girls (Yvonne, Lynn, and Winterstar) it looks like we can't use weather for our World Canadian Domination. Any suggestions? Love, Light and Laughter, Kristy (a.k.a. Noema, Dewshine, Starsong, and Silverstorm) P.S.: Hi, Lynn! Did you ever see the episode where Sisko and the Vulcan were having a baseball game and Rom *won* by a bunt? It was hilarious! Oh, and Yvonne, here, have some Lutifisk! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 1862 **********************************
