 Yes! YOu just gave me _the_ perfect opening! <BG> Vanyel as he was in 
MPawn reminds me very strongly of the song 'Return to Innocence' by 
Enigma (It's the third song on the album 'Cross of Changes' and can also 
be found on Pure Moods (the first one)). The lyrics, for those of you 
who don't know, go something like: 
 "Love (love)-Devotion (devotion)
  Feeling (feeling)-Emotion (emotion)

 That's reminded me of Van for a long time now. Only in MPawn though. 
The song is sort of about what Van went through. What he had to do to 
be....himself. He had to find that one part of himself that hadn't been 
hurt and learn to be that. He had to "return to innocence". It's really 
a song full of hope. The book is too actually. To me anyway. <G>  _And_ 
if they ever _did_ do a movie of MPawn I think that that song should be 
the theme song. It should appear in other places too. I once started a 
soundtrak for LHM, but no one ever goes into that part here. I've always 
thought that was odd. We all go on forever about actors and F/X, but we 
never think about the soundtracks.

 I guess. I never spend much time thinking about it except if I've just 
read mine again and I'm watching out for bad traits. Like being 
disturbing. I haven't suffered that one thank Havens. I'm too optimistic 
most of the time. I'm a Leo, but I'm probably one of the more laid back 
kinds. The funny thing is, I prefer water to fire. Probably because it 
keeps my fire under control. That's probab;y safer for all since my 
mom's a fire sign too. (aries)

 Scorpios aren't always that great. My dad is a Scorpio and he has some 
rotten stuff to deal with. My grandmother (my dad's mother) was also a 
Scorpio and she had some _really_ rotten stuff going on. For my family 
anyway. Other people too some. ~shrugs~ She was at the lower end of the 
Scorpio spectrum though. My dad's a _little_ higher at least.

 Well, for my persona's last name (which I originally intended for a 
usename for this list :)) I wrote a list of Tayledras type names. Then I 
thought about each one and if it'd match _me_ First time around I got 
Shadowcat. It fit perfect till I changed. Then I changed to Stargem. 
Stargem fits me better than Shadowcat, but there's still some Shadowcat 
left in me. 
 When I think about names I get pictures and feelings. Stargem has 
several images. A bright bright star in the sky. sharp edged diamond 
glowing with a cold light. A deep shining, glittering pool. A crystal 
with unseen, yet seen depths. The feelings are mostly calm. A deep 
calmness, centeredness. Peace. 
 Shadowcat is shadows. but there's fire there too. Wrapped in shadows. A 
powerful cat. Flames. Warrior. Firey power. concealed. Heat. Fire. 
Covered in shadow. OUt-of-the-way. Background. Unseen. I know some of 
that doesn't make much sense, but that name is harder to explain than 
the other.

 A Flion is a winged lion. I've also seen it spelled Flyon if that 
helps. I've really only found one place they listed Flions, and then it 
was under winged lion. They are around though, just not listed for some 
reason. I have one collectable figurine done by M Pena (I was very lucky 
with that one; they don't make it anymore), a little pewter flion with a 
round amythyst crystal in front of it, a little bitty flion, and a flion 
suncatcher.

 I do actually. She doesn't use them because they're over-used. 
Practically _everyone_ uses them in fantasy anymore.

I read this and giggled....I am an Aries too....and if I had a dollar for
every person who ever said I was the stubbornest person they ever
met....(I still wouldn't have as much money as my she'endra
would....-just kidding Des')  I used to think that the sign didn't fit
me, but now...I seem to be getting more headstrong all the time...

I need some moral support too...I am quitting my job tommorow and I do
not know what I will do after that, I only know that I cannot put up with
the stress I feel and how often I am "dumped on."  I am standing up for
myself , and I am horribly nervous about the whole thing...


Ummm...an obMisty, ah yes, the Ancar discussion, I too feel that Ancar
got what he deserved,  he was a dangerous man and if they had let him
continue to exist, he would have been nothing but a threat to all.

Heyla list-cibs I'd compiled a list of things that i'd wanted to 
respon to and
I lost it all so I'll just have to do the best I can from memory. Here I go!
Sorry if I don't get the names of the people with their ideas quite right, but
I'm only remembering! never mind because now I don't really remember names
either *frown*

I want to thank Tensen for reading my "braid" e-mail and ask, why? Then I
wanted to say that I'd like to join the new RP being set up and that maybe a
good name would be The Sword Dance page or something.

I think because I'm blind I associate people with sounds although sometimes I
can picture someone a color.  Firesong was always red or a storm because of his
impetuous nature.  Karal always reminded me of a breezy day because he was
usually so calm although he could be ruffled as a breezy day can turn windy.

As for the Randail disease it might have been a blood disorder or a cancer they
both have sort of the same simptoms. I know there was a lot more I wanted
to say, but just now I can't think. Sorry for the short poast One more thing! 
someone suggested that Misty herself might be lirking on the list, not a badthought!

Hey,
I've been feeling that I should stop lurking for a while now, and so I've finally
decided to say hi. So, Hi, my name's Katie, I'm a senior in high school, and I'm 18.
I've been reading the list for about six months now, but never quite got up the nerve to
respond to anything. However, I now have a few days off from school, and I made a
resolution to do all the things that I always said I'd do later. I made this resolution
because of the reason I have Tuesday and Wednesday off from school. Last Friday, five
girls from the junior class of my high school were killed in a hideous car crash. THe
entire school is in a state of shock and mourning, and school has been cancelled, unless
you need counseling, in order that the students can go to any of the five viewings or
funerals being held Tuesday and Wednesday. The administration says school will resume as
usually on Thursday, but I don't know how that is possible. The girls' lockers have been
turned into shrines, with writing on the lockers, floors and hallways. It's difficult to
walk past them, I don't know what they expect us to do about it. I'm not sure if any of
you have heard about this, but it is possible, as seven different television news crews,
NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, FOX, WB17, and WHYY, have been camped out at our school since it
happened. Some of my friends discovered the girls were dead when news crews stuck
microphones in their faces and asked them how they felt. They didn't know what had
happened. The invasion of the television news crews into our school is making the entire
situation much worse. The paper press has been a little better, but not completely,
frequently losing sight of the girls deaths, and talking about our cute little town,
which by the way, is not a cute little mill town, but a surburban Philadelphia town.
Forgive me for this long rant, but I was actually wondering how far the story had
spread. I know upstate NY papers had the story, I'd appreciate if any of you could tell
me if it reached your area.
Also, OBMISTY: (well, sort of): How do you think news like what I told you about would
be handled in Valdemar? Would there be a constant battering of nosy people, or would
they be left alone to mourn in peace? Does Valdemar even have information networks other
than word of mouth?
THanks for listening, next time I send something it'll be much more on Misty, and not my
own life, really, I swear!

First off, I need to mention that my email address has changed and is 
reflected in this message header.  The list (and I do love it!) 
overloaded my work email, so here's my Total-Misty address!

I think it might have something to do with how much energy a mage 
exerts.  Imperial mages work in groups, so they expend less energy on 
one project.  Other mages, like Keth, have had to rely on just 
themselves (until Adept, of course).  That's just my theory, though.

I don't generally do this, though my own characters sometimes pick up 
theme songs--like Char, the red dragon (just try and picture a Red 
Dragon Highlord and his draconic mount singing "Be Prepared" from The 
Lion King in duet, with a chorus of reds in the background singing "La 
la la! We'll have food! Lots of food! We repeat! Endless meat! 
Ooooooooh, ah!" I fell off my chair). I have noticed that with a bit of 
rearrangement of tracks, Children of the Night can be set to the 
soundtrack from The Lost Boys.

I just have trouble spitting out a name for something if I don't have 
any concept of what it's like... theme, setting, the general atmosphere 
and prevailing details... that sort of thing. Give me that to work with, 
and I'll be able to come up with title suggestions.

Depending on the name, sometimes I get a sense of something beyond just 
colors.. Stargem is one, though I don't exactly get an image like the 
ones you described, Sorana, I do get a definite sense of sparkles of 
light in a cool darkness, like diamonds in a dimly lit room--points of 
bright light, mostly white, but with a faint prismatic effect as well, 
as diamonds tend to have.

I don't have an answer to your question, but I thought I'd address this 
in general. In most of my work, light and darkness are very 
important--hence, Solarin and Raven on the Mistic Circle and branching 
off into my own stuff; gold and black, sun and moon, light and dark. 
Though the world they're in has three gods of light for good and one of 
darkness for evil, I use light and shadow and darkness a lot in setting 
the stage for scenes, and a lot of the time I use darkness as cooling 
and soothing, a veil of privacy that makes it easier to bare one's 
soul... 
Of course, I tend to get a little heavy-handed with it---BEEP plot point 
BEEP plot point BEEP plot point, y'know? :)

ON WHAT I WOULD BE:
	Someone else said a Court painter - I'll come with you!! *Yvonne 
runs after the somebody frantically waving her arms* I like to pretend 
I'm an artist, and really, that'd be just about all I'm suited for. :)

ON NAMES:	
	I not only get colors, but emotions connected with names. With 
one char I have, Isis, it's a bright cheery tropical blue, masking most a 
deep navy, like looking down into deep water. For Kassa it's green, 
brown, and gold. For Timandra it's gypsie reds, and images of firelight 
and golden coins, and drums and dancing. Just a question - what do some 
of you think of when you hear (ok, read) Yvonne? FOr the life of me I 
can't get a be-darned thing!

On ZODIACS
	Well, I'm a capricorn. I've got big ideas, but rarely actually 
finish them, so there goes that trait. I ~AM~ stubbron, and not too good 
with sensitivity. I tend to run rough-shod over ppl lots. *sigh* I'm a 
strange Earth sign...

	Well, for the Heralds there is the Death Bell incase of a death, 
and the arrows. Other than that, news would be taken by courier, by 
minstrels, and gossip. Long-range mindspeach if the news is important, 
and probibly by birds, like homing pigeons. I haven't seen any reference 
to any courier birds, tho, so I may just be guessing. :P

For myself, probably a libarian, or maybe a Companion *g*. But then again I can't

Actually, a lot of my characters names I get from a fantasy name generator on a website.

I know, I know, not very original. As for the name 'Obsidian'. I used that name because
I like black. I also like purple and green, but black is one of my favorite colors. I
think
it reflects me because I seem to like the night more than the day. And I think it sounds

enigmatic and closed off. I have other favorite fantasy names, like Mercile. Actually, I

use that for a last name. I also use other names like Shadowbird, or Cullner and so on.
As strange as it seems one of my characters in my fantasy series is called Herald. LOL!
Though he not a Herald.

That reminds me of my fantasy series I'm writing. My character comes from a country
that is built and lives on evil. I'm also writing another book, and my main character is

evil. What I'm trying to do is make my readers feel compassion for the evil character
rather than the good one.

Wow. I had no idea...... Spiral Dance. Neat!  Just so..... true I guess is the
word... and you don't have to dance to dance. A dance can be a dance of
thought, words, actions, speech, the way a river moves it dances ... really
the word dance is simply used more often to describe the physical movement of
people in twos or groups..... I don't dance really but I flow ... that is a
way of dance I guess. Now I don't know any of the moves they use now ... but I
can make my movements pretty ... and flowing. Now that it is mentioned I feel
stupid. I know I heard it from Bedlam's Bard... : :hit's head:: gone! It went
on vacation.... 
 
 Runes of CircleStone (ROCS <---- tee hee) I like that.  Anyone else? If that
is to much please tell me otherwise I think I like that...... and that would

Hey everyone. I'm actually in a fretty good mood which is great because I
haven't been in a good mood, or not in much of one since the term started.
Ummm! Ok, now the misty stuff and I have people's names and quotes and
everything. Big huge grin, Ooooo I think I'm a bit hiiiiiippeerrr!!!!!

Would that all systems were based on experience rather than grades. I can't
think of anything that would make me think that grades were a major part of
things accept that when Talia was ill from being dumped into the river everyone
was very eager to lend her their notes and I believe it was mentioned somewhere
that Elspeth was only avrage in academic studies, but I can't be sure on that
last. I'd personally like a system in which a person would be judged on what
they can do instead of some ediotic tests. What do youall think?

I have a couple of theories on this one. One of them might be that it could
just be middle age and the natural  aging process.  It could also be an
oversight on Misty's part though I don't like that one, but it should be
considdered. Also maybe the fact that the empire mages don't do much but work
magic, unlike the hockbrother mages and the heralds. Obsidian I think you
should just credit the picture and you'll be fine. I don't think you should get
in! anytrouble as long as you give credit where credit is due.

I don't remember it coming up in Misty's work accept maybe in Magic's Pawn
where Moondance is healing Van. Or maybe in the part where Andy gives Van the
drugs I think it says something about darkness taking him into a peaceful sleep
or something, but please look don't take my word for it. It's been a while. I'd
like to be kept up on your progress in using darkness as good not evil. I'd be
interested in what you comup with.

As for Other threads. I think if I could not be a bard then I wouldwant to be a
blue or a companion. I could handle not having hands because eventually I'd
have a Herald to do all that stuff for me and it would be fun although risky
being a companion.  En the Ancar line, I think he got what he deserved.  He
couldn't have been brought to trial because I don't think there was any
international laws or whatever and really, What would a trial have prov? He had
another mad Adept helping him. I liked when Gwena walked on him too! That was
great! I think I'm done for now
