"Welcome to our List. I would have liked to dump you with the mousse but I guess you don't feel like it at the moment. In case you do, just do it yourself. Here, this is from Shantaya and we are both sorry and sympathize." Out of his left ear he produces a little sheep with green wool. "It doesn't have a name right now and is looking for a new home, Shantaya said, so if you want it, it's yours. YOu can hug it, if you need comfort, it doesn't smell. Well, not too bad, I guess, our cats liked it like crazy." With a broad grin the little man with the jingly bangles is off to surprise Lady Starlight with a big hug from behind. "Sorry, no mousse au chocolate either. But here, Shantaya sends you a blue sheep that smells of summer meadows and jingles when you shake it and you can put it in your mouth and suckle it and it is soft and cozy and the right toy for you so you will get a feeling for what your baby will need *grins broadly*." * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** I just finished "Oathblood". Never knew how much I missed Tarma and Kethry until I re-read all those stories! I enjoyed their friendship, their cooperation, and their character. I'd really long to re-read the other two Oath-books (and usually I'm NOT a re-reader). Especially when I started Teresa Edgerton's Green Lion Trilogy which has so boring characters! The good guy is soooooo good and pious and yuck! Does anybody know if it is worth finishing the series? TAYLEDRAS GARB: I imagine them as Native American costumes with fringes and feathers for everyday life (scouting, cleansing, hunting, working magic etc.) and colourful silk costumes like in Arabian Nights movies for festivities. I once had weird dream about them where they all lived in deep turquois silk tents *flushes dark crimson*. I often dream weird stuff. Anyone else? Anyone have any thoughts? ----- Well, I had never really thought about it, but now that you mention it, it is a little odd. Maybe the excuse "to make a man out of him" was just an excuse. Perhaps, Withen knew it was hopeless to keep pushing Vanyel, and just sent him to Savil so he wouldn't have to deal with the boy. That's the only logical reason I can think of. Other than that, maybe it was just Fate. I'll admit that everything else in Misty's work does seem to have a logical reason, but maybe this didn't. Perhaps the gods knew that Van had to get to Haven so he could become a Herald and "save the world." I don't particuarly like that explaination, but I can't think of another logical one. Can anyone think of any events in Misty's work that seems to happen by pure chance or Fate? Anyone have any thoughts? L.J. Thompson ----I think he was just sick of dealing with him Ellen shena Liha'irden and Kalistia Firemyst talked about the movie labyrinth, i just have to say i love that movie! escepecially david bowie... heheh obmisty: i know a lot of people liked oathblood, but was anyone dissapointed? i read it after oathbound and oathbreakers, and i found it rather boring. i guess b/c the stories are shorter it's harder for them to be as good as the other things lackey writes. the last story was good, i kind of wish there were simply an entire novel continuing the story later on. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 06 Feb 1999 20:18:35 -0600 From: Amy Trujillo To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: zodiac/outfits/question about LHM Message-ID: <36BCF7F8.533F-+AT+-southwind.net> Heyla everyone, L.J. Anyone have any thoughts? I think Withen was a little naive about city life or at least life at the Herald's Collegium. He assumed that Van would be in a school that would keep him busy, and he relied on Savil to keep him away from any "unmanly" associations...remember the letters that he sent her. He had no idea about Lendel and he had no idea that Savil completely ignored his wishes down to and including letting Van play music. Remember in the scene were Vanyel confronts Withen before he leaves Withen said something to the effect that Van should not expect to be able to play his music anymore, that he had arranged things so that he would not be around the Bards. But Savil let him play and do anything he wanted as long as he was out of her way. Anyone have any thoughts? >L.J. Thompson I've wondered that myself, but I put it down to Vanyel being thought of as 'hopeless', the boy who had too many bard dreams in his head to be anything useful to his father. Savil, being a Herald, might not quite be seen in the same stereotypes (pardon the strong phrasing) as a 'normal' woman (unHerald-like I mean) would in Withen's time. So Withen sends Vanyel to the Big City, possibly to get him out of his hair, perhaps he's running out of food, perhaps several mothers are complaining that Vanyel will steal their innocent little boys away from them and sully them (which, I should hope we know, was /not/ Vanyel's train of thought, I'm just playing off of some human discriminations they might have had) Any more comments? She looks around cautiously, before striding forward, bursting into song, o/~Hello, my baby, hello, my lover, hello, my ragtime gal... o/~ Before several well-aimed tomatoes convince her to stop. **Ending the Small Amount of Fluff** Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, that's all for tonight.
