Message-ID: <19990209152433.20156.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> Heyla! You know, I love spares (especially if you have three in a row to spend on the computer! (tee-hee)). So, I decided that, after thoroughly depressing myself from the last e-mail, I would grace you all with my opinion on some of my favorite misty books. (I can't think of anything else to do.) Hmm. How do I start? Aha! With my favorite series of all, the Mage Winds trilogy. I think those three (except for Winds of Change) are some of the best written novels in the whole Valdemar series. Okay, maybe I could make an exception and include the Mage Storms (although I was bored out of my skull when I was reading them) and the first two in the Mage Wars trilogy. I never liked Silver Gryphon. Nothing HAPPENED in it! All she did was switch from character to character describing the same thing that happened to Amberdrake's daughter (I forgot her name--not my fault! I haven't read those books in ages!). It sort of reminded me of a book that Andre Norton and another person wrote together called the MageStone? I know it's the one right after the Key of the Keplian. Anyway, that books was so god-awful boring, I nearly gave up on it! I think I'd better stop now before I start to repeat myself. (I'm no morning person.) Yay! Good news! I got my grad ring in the mail last night! It's really pretty. I picked the Shamrock, even though I'm Sagitarius and my birthstone is supposed to be a topaz. I just didn't pick it because the topaz was such an awful colour of yellow. (Yuck!) Yvonne: Hmm. That polar bear idea sounds like a good one! I know I haven't been feeding mine lately (I was busy *recuperating* from Exams) so maybe if I let it out . . . Daine: I think it was you that said you were seventeen and were asking if I was your twin? I could be mistaken (I deleted all of my misty e-mail that piled up over the weekedn). Hmm. If the Princess Bride is your favorite movie, what's your second favorite? I LOVE Return of the Jedi! (Might as well out the Princess Bride as my second favorite.) I think that's all I have to say. Welcome, to all newbies! Love, Light and Laughter, Kristy (a.k.a. Noema, Dewshine, Starsong, and Silverstorm) P.S.:Hey, Yvonne! Here's a little revenge for the Kippers! How come a channel's hair doesn't bleach white? They channel TONS of magic energy that comes from outside them, like Karal, but I haven't heard of their hair turning white. Any possible answers?" Ok, I think that a possible explanation for this is that they are only channeing the energy, not using it themselves. They are conducting it elsewhere where it tehn can be used. Not that I am saying I'm right, but that's always been the way I saw it. Now, time to run to class! Kristy wrote: I never liked Silver Gryphon. Nothing HAPPENED in it! I couldn't agree more with ya! It was just Silverblade and Tad running around in the jungle, throughout the entire book! Sure that would've been fine for a chapter or two or three, but not the entire book. ::Snore:: My personal favorite so far has got to be The Last Herald-Mage <3 ::sighing dreamily:: I should reread it some time, I did love it so. *g* and I love the fact that Misty keeps bringing Van back! I'm reading the Mage Winds right now for the first time, and it's turning out to be really good too. I'm at the beginning of Winds of Fury currently. Onto another assorted rambling of mine. My room mate watches Sailor Moon, and has gotten me into it as well. And, well, the first time I saw the character Malachite, I was like "Oh my goodness! He's Tayledras!" The guy look so much like a Tayledras, long silver hair, ice blue eyes, triangular shaped face, golden skin, so Hawkbrother looking! Has anyone else noticed that? He's a bad guy, and I find myself routing for the bad guys most of the time because of him. *G* (Ok... so he's evil, but can you really hate a guy for that? I mean... he looks Tayledras, so he can't be all that bad.) In the Japanese version he's shaych, because his lover Zoysite <--sp? is a guy. But in the American version, they made Zoysite female. (Havens forbid there should be shaych characters in a cartoon!) Just an interesting tidbit I thought I'd share. When I found this out and told my room mate she nearly wet her pants and/or attacked me. Zhai'helleva, Starshadow K'Connecticut P.S. Even though I don't fully understand this sheep thing, I figured I'd just jump on the band wagon and try it out, so here goes... Chava-flavored sheep to everybody! How'd I do? *g* ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Feb 1999 19:28:36 -0800 From: skyfire-+AT+-t-online.de (skyfire) To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: A little introduction and a bit of justice Message-ID: <36C0FCE4.DE98C4C6-+AT+-t-online.de> Lisa Whitman schrieb: > Finally, in Valdemar, Herald's _are_ the judges. I prefer to think they acted in self-defense (although I don't know if you can act that way on behalf of an entire country). Valdemar had suffered his atrocities for many years and they knew that he would not only kill the royal familiy and the Heralds, but probably enslave the population and do even worse things. And IIRC, Valdemar's troops were no match for his (in a weird way, killing Ancar was even more humane, 'cause they avoided getting innocent, conscripted Hardornens killed in battle by taking Ancar and his buddies out). So they took every means to prevent that. They defended themselves. If I learn that someone is out to kill me, I'm determined to do everything to prevent that, and I mean everything. Even if it means killing the person. I don't give warnings and I don't wait for a trial. This may seem a bit oversimplified, but it works for me and my life. -- Khenta B., Lurker Extraordinaire ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Feb 1999 21:28:04 -0800 From: skyfire-+AT+-t-online.de (skyfire) To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Sailor Moon & Misty characters Message-ID: <36C118E4.3B5B5746-+AT+-t-online.de> Rachesqka-+AT+-aol.com schrieb: > And, well, the first time I saw the > character Malachite, I was like "Oh my goodness! Ancar was insane with power. That was already a given, of course. But this situation is comparable to the U.S. versus Iraq. Though some might not consider Saddam Hussein to be insane, the U.S. is trying to prevent more harm then good. Though their methods might be less then favourable, it is (what they consider) nessesary. The end result will most likely be overlooked by the events that got it there. I think the Heralds were in the right, as the Valdemaran forces were weakening. If Valdemar had lost, who knows what might have happened. They were between a rock and a hard place, and reacted accordingly. Any agreements/disagreements/comments in general? MEANWHILE, BACK IN CRYSTAL TOKYO... ;) >The guy (Malachite) look so much like a Tayledras, long silver hair, >ice blue eyes, triangular shaped face, golden skin, so Hawkbrother >looking! Dear gods, no! Can't subject children to shaych characters! It might pervert them! (Please note, I am being quite sarcastic). Sure, there might be reasons of propriety (I can't find them), but kids are gonna see that sooner or later in their lives, so what's the point in 'protecting' them? IMNSHO (in my not so humble opinion), it's like trying to put a fit racehorse in a stall and keep it there so that it doesn't ever see the track. Sorry, I needed to rant about that. Well, if you read Elvenblood, a lot more will be explained about the Wizards, the Kin, and the Elves. However, the ending of Elvenblood still leaves a lot of loose ends. There are rumors of a third book coming out --hoping hoping hoping-- I personally loved the Elven Chronicles, and I can't wait for Misty & Andre to team up again. :) *Returns to Lurking* Darkness, Silence, and Peace be With you Always, Zhai'helleva, ~Lady Astreia, Proud Knight of Fluff, Bardic Trainee, Spy for CfWD, Keeper of Dragons, Slayer of Morons, and Princess of Bruhaha and Everything Obscure. ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 1871 **********************************
