I think that my least favorite book was probably Burning Water. I just couldn't get into it. THe beginning seemed really slow to me. As for my least favorite char it would probably Emperor Charliss. He just plain bugged me. When ever I re-read the books I always skip him because he just annoyed me. He was sooo blind to his surroundings and that bugged me. I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE Mainstreet by Carson McCullers! (I don't have enough hates down, but I think you all get the idea.) The book was HORRIBLE. I'm sorry, but if someone marries and man, and goes to live with him, then is surprised the entire village isn't like Chicago, there is a problem. I can't remember her name, but the main character is also my least favorite on. She goes trying to make the village beatiful and perfect for her own selfish needs, and ends up ruining everyone's lives in the process. It was horribly written, and boring. I don't recomend this book unless forced to by evil teachers. :) Obmisty: Ok, I've heard that at one point Vanyel is no longer inside the Forest of Sorrows. The Healer, i can't remember his name, said that there were gryphons up there and that he'd seen them, but wasn't it explained that Tryvan and Hydona were the first of the gryphons to even come to East from White Gryphon? I'm a theatre design major (costumes and sets) and I was thinking of all of the great design posibilities ( I have some great ideas on how to do the companions...) and I think if the right playwright did the script (with lots o' input from Misty) that most of the stories would translate quite well. All of the songs could be incorporated (as transitions???, 'cause i really can't see "Valdamar the musical") oooh it'd be such a good thing! the characters are all substansial enough to satisfy any actor, i think it's a very feasible idea does anyone know if misty has been approached with a project of that nature? You know! That's never made no kind of sense to me. A person will sit in front of the tv for hours and watch tv but they can't, won't read for thirty minutes. My parents used to think, probably still think, I was am strange because I would never watch tv. Even now, the only tv I really watch besides the occasional movie is xena and startrek. Tv's never been of much importance to me. Books have always seemed much more real. There's something about the written word or just words in general that call to me. I can just sink into the book and just shut the world out. My main form of escape has always been reading and writing. A book will take you anywhere you want to go. All you need to do is open the book, or push play on a recorder. Whatever books are wonderful. I've never been one to limit my reading and always have a variety of reading material in my room. Scifi and fantasy, romance, adventure, history... I've never liked mystery partly because i can usually figure them out. I think one of the draws to fantasy is the fact that you have to suspend belief. It's also a great teacher of life. You can learn so much from the characters situations but most people don't see that *sigh* There was also a little debate about if scifi and fantasy should be on the shelves together I think they should be. The only difference is that scifi deals with technology and fantasy with magic. Other than that, well there's not much difference at all. They're, family, you could say. I like them both, although I'll admit the scifi gets too technical for me sometimes. Yet I cannot deny that there is great scifi out there. Someone wanted to know what short story collection had alberich's story in it. Well, it is Horse Fantastic. The name of the story is Stolen Silver. In the same sort of book theme morgan asked if there were any valdemar books after storms the owl books. I haven't read them myself but they are Owl Sight, Owl Flight and Owl Night. I'm not sure what order they go in, but I'm sure the books themselves will say. obsidian asked: "okay i got a question. in the black gryphon amberdrake is talking about lifebonds and how one can't be stronger than the other because that person would overshadow the other. is this true? how can that be? didn't talia have empathy and dirk not? and what about stefen and vanyel? vanyel is adept when stef is only journeyman. does this count for mages or just healers?" I know people have answered this but as is usually, the case with me I can't keep my nose out of things so here goes my own .02 on the suBject. I believe Drake was talking about a person's character not gift. He meant that if one person was weak willed and always did what their bonded wanted, it would destroy the weaker member in the bond and probably the stronger one two. I'd like to see a story of a nongifted person put into unusual circumstances, any one else? Heather Arnold wrote: "sometimes it's easy to forget that though the flashing-sword-type heroism may be exciting and easy to see i think the best kind of courage honor and heroism comes later. when people work together with the strength and patience to rebuild from a devastating loss it really shows how loyal they can be to one another." This made me think of how after Hurricane Andrew swept through here and everyone had lost everything people helped each other out in any way that they could. We had a neighbor who had a barbicue and every night they'd make food for everyone and my house was the only one with a phone so we'd let people come in and out at all hours to use it. starshadow k'connecticut wrote: "there was only one part that sort of bothered me it was at the very end of wofury in the final showdown between elspeth and hulda. after hulda recognizes elspeth and is afraid of her "elspeth laughed histerically." that bothered me did it bother anyone elseth i mean sure hulda was evil and all but i never figured elspeth to be one to laugh histerically in a battle to the death. that kind of borders on evil itself. i was kinda taken aback by that you know elspeth being a herald and all." I think part of the laughter was stress. I mean if I were in a situation like that, I know that I'd be majorly stressed out The fact that she is a Herald doesn't make her super human. I think another part of the laughter was that Hulda had once been a big part of her life and although Elspeth dispised her for what she had attempted to do a part of her was probably shocked at having to actually confront her mentor turned traitor. Just my spin (ducks behind sheep confident that her sibs will not hurt the sheep.) sky wolf and misha "does anyone else think that misty's stories could be brought to the stage?" I can't see it. Most of her work is so character driven and there is so much delving into the mind that I don't know about that. Although it would be interesting to try. I like musicals and if it worked... although getting nonmisty people to see it might involve destroying Misty's work a bit and I wouldn't like that. Here's a question though, who would play the parts and the companions? Aryenne Winterfire asked: ok i've heard that at one point vanyel is no longer inside the forest of sorrows. will someone tell me what happened and what book it was in? or if it's not true let me know! Its very true about Van leaving the forest. It is in Storm Breaking. What happens is that they need him to help with the final solution so he does. You could say that he moves on. If you haven't read storms I don't want to give it away and if you have then reread the last couple chapters dealing with the group at the tower. I've probably given some stuff away already. Karistan asked about the Gryphons talked about in Arrows. I guess they could be from a devission that occurs after the Maje wars. I'm not really sure. Ok, I'm finally done with this monster post of mine. Sorry about that. (slips quietly back in to lurkdom) Then pokes her head out for one quick Obmisty.
