Well, I had the idea, and I'm just crazy enough to add this to my huge list of Things To Do, so I'm volunteering. Thank you, Rainsong, for the suggestion. I have a list of everyone who's asked to join so far, but I don't have any addresses, so if everyone could email me at ambermoon00-+AT+-hotmail.com (those are zeroes) and include their email addy, I'd much appreciate it. And if you could include your favorite for the name of the group (I posted all of them a few days ago, and one more was added since then, I believe on the same day), that would be quite helpful. Thanks all. on an unrelated note, I have a long-standing question about Truth Spell. Could it be used to determine one's own feelings about something? If you can't figure out what you feel over an issue, and someone uses second-degree Truth Spell on you and asks what your opinion is, would that force an answer to emerge or would you simply say "I don't know"? Truth Spell seems to always be used for the mind, what if applied to emotions? (say something involving self-deception?) I think this proves I am entirely too curious sometimes (meow). chocolate hazlenut sheep to all, Ambermoon Singer of Fire Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Mar 1999 21:39:28 PST From: "* Winddancer *" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re:Elspeth bitch order/lots of other stuff Message-ID: <19990327053931.7429.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> Phantom wrote, in reply to my re-emergence: >Welcome back Becky! One little problem here...I'm not Becky. Sorry to dissapoint you, but I'm afraid you must be thinking of another Winddancer, who I do hope will re-enter the conversations in the near future. Well, thanks for the welcome, even if it wasn't really directed at me, and I'll see ya around. :) Oh, and to whoever (sorry, I lost the post ) said that Van's Healing Gift could have been opened by the Companion bond, that's a really good idea, and does seem likely, since it says in AotQ that Gifts are strengthened by it. It would seem to follow that potential Gifts could also be actually opened by it. On a rather fluffy note, I got the Oathbreakers casssette today, and--well, why, in the nine hells, did they give Tarma a Southern twang!? It practically destroyed the whole album, so far as I was concerned...that, and all the songs that included Tarma were done in a decidedly country style . I liked "Contemplations", though. About the Elspeth Order, I personally don't think that it should involve the word 'brat' in the title, since one of the pervading themes of AotQ was that she outgrew her bratiness (which was in no way an admirable trait, and was in place only because of Huda), and actually became human ;). Her bitchiness, on the other hand, wasn't necessarily a bad thing, so IMO, seeing as it was a rather integral part of her personality, should be in the Order name. I can't really think of anything that isn't really cheesy or downright stupid, though; hmmm...something with BITCH as an acronym, I think, though so far, I can only think of a few combinations, none of them partcularly good. Can anyone else think of words that begin with the same letters that could replace 'Benefactors of the Independent, Talented, Capable Herald' (in other words, the BITCHes), and sound a lot better, and be more fitting? I can't think of any words, and these are way too bland! I need help here! Raven? Ambermoon? Anyone? Also, could someone /please/ tell me how to join the Order of Amber and Marigold? And the Singers of Fire? I'd really appreciate any hints/email addresses for people to contact/etc. Oh, and before I forget, I misquoted Elspeth in my last post. I had said "the most selfish bitch in Valdemar', I think her words were," but it hit me not long after that they were 'the most jealous bitch in Valdemar'. (at least that had better be correct...if I've mis-remembered twice, I'm even worse than I thought!) It just goes to show that two or three years is /way/ to long a time to go between reading a book and trying to quote it! BTW, does anyone know if there's a webpage of collected quotes from Misty's books on it? I keep intending to make one, but every time I read the series(es ;), I forget to write any down. *_* Well, that's all I can recall of what I had intended to say, so I'll leave now, and spare you all the trauma of listening to any more insane ramblings.
