There was also Windsong aka Silverblade.  IIRC she just stood up during
a dinner party announced she was going to be a Silver and that from then
on everyone was to call her Silverblade, or Blade for short.

it's me, Lady Brynn, back from Yosemite, homewrk, etc. etc....
eeek! too much mail has built up! anyhow, if anyone remembers me they 
will remember as well my ability to babble on about any subject, so 
*please* don't get me started... <g> i have also had problems with the 
'puter and my 'mail in general.  i'm sorry that my writing is so 
detatched and stuff... i'v been taking the standardized CA test today 
and my brain is fried... how could anyone *not* understand that stuff? 
now, on to business...

::A graceful, slim young woman with long auburn hair and sparkling green 
eyes slooshes into the Hall.  she is wearing her Usual Attire: oversized 
gray sweat pants, a black Shakespere Festival shirt, and the shimmering 
water-cloak that Yvonne gifted her with.  Looking around, she spots 2 
newbies. *It seems i have been remiss in my duties* she sends, and a 
quiet, mischevious laugh echos around the room.  she walks slowly over 
to Saidra and Dreamwalker with her hands behind her back, apparently 
conceling something bulky. suddenly ::SPLOOSH!!:: the newbies are 
drenched in cold, salty water. the Lady offers soggy towels, explaining 
that she didn't have enough energy for *warm* water... *Welcome to the 
MLML! if you have questions, remember to bug the councilors... they 
won't mind, really...<g>* with that, Brynn walks over to the hot pools 
and jumps in splashilly, causing shrieks and giggles::

as for the usename thing, i agree totally with ppl and so i have no use 
to put in my 1.02 <g>
about the "herald mentality" thread... i think that you could probably 
be spotted by a Companion if you were a herald-y person with no gift, 
and you could be made an advisor to the monarch or somethin.

Heyla all!
 I'm sending this warning to practically everyone in my address book, 
including the lists. With any luck, this warning will save everyone a 
lot of time and trouble.

 I just saw on the news that there's a new email virus out. It's called 
'Melissa' and it's spreading _really_ fast. It comes in an email with 
the subject line of: "Important Document"; usually from someone you 
know. Like with all the other email viruses _I've_ heard of, you should 
be fine as long as you don't open the Doc in the email. If you do open 
it, the virus will email itself to 50 people in your address books. I 
didn't reallly catch what it does to _your_ computers, but it's a virus 
so it can't possibly be good.

For the benifit of the various lists: I apoligize to anyone I may have 
annoyed with this completely off topic and OOC post. I just wanted to 
make sure as many people were warned as possible considering how fast 
this thing's been spreading. Especially since if any one of us gets this 
virus, it'll probably email itself to the list (whichever one or more 
you happen to be on) itself. And that would be _really_ rotten!

Heyla,

  First off, I'm kind of sorry about my Truth Spell question, which in 
retrospect seems rather silly. Late night wanderings, wishful thinking, 
and an eternal curiosity on the nature of truth ("Real? That's a hard 
one; almost as hard as true, or now." - Susan Cooper) But I am reminded 
of a rebuke of Firesong's (which I am too lazy to go look up) that goes 
something like, "What were you expecting, miracles? It is only magic 
that we do, after all!" 

   I've found some repeated images from the Velgarth books that are 
quite powerful: for instance, the image of a person carrying a body - 
Savil with Vanyel, Firesong with Tre'valen. Still pictures, with a 
silence about them, that are quite moving. Was anyone else struck by 
these, or can find any others (not this particular image, but just 
repeated tableaus with this effect)?

   Rainsong: for the Elspeth Order, I've tried to email you at the new 
address you gave (danae-+AT+-blazenetme.com), and twice it's been sent back 
to me. is there something wrong with your account, or is there some 
other imp at work here?

     Heyla Listsibs, 
              It has been forever since I've written and it is good to be
back.  In response to the usename question, in *Owlsight* Darian is talking to
his teacher Firefrost.  She tells him that usenames are changed when no longer
fit the person as an adult, if the person has undergone a lifechanging
experience, or If the person does something really notable around the time
when they are ready for a new name. Example: Starfall was diving off a cliff
when a shooting star passed over him, mirroring his fall.

I just had a thought about the Truth Spell. Could it make someone tell the 
truth about something they'd forgotten, do you think? If someone had Truth 
Spelled Talia and asked her if Gwena was Grove Born, would she have 
answered yes? She knew that Gwena was, but then the Companions made her 
forget, after all. I wonder what she would have answered......... I wonder 
about these things sometimes..... did this post make any sense? It's almost 
midnight, and I just got back from a 4 hour RPG session.....:)

Don't the Companions Choose by who the person is, what's 
inside them, rather than what gifts they do or don't have? 
In several books, the Companions are shown to be spirits, 
and in BtS, Kero recognises(sp?) that and that they Chose 
by some evaluation of a person. Ratha confirms that by 
noding.

Good morning, everyone..at least it is here...just picked up Owlsight =
and read it straight thru..I've got Owlflight on order. The art work is =
just terrific. I think it's gotten better..it was always good, but those =
drawings were wonderful. Anyway, speaking of viruses, there's a new one =
out, called the Papa virus....saw it on the news this morning as I was =

back to my books last night and checked. (Of course, I was up to 2am =
reading Owlsight after that, probably why my allergies planned a =

e-mails that someone (I'm horrible at remembering who said what, I'm =
just lucky I remember my head when I leave the house) mentioned that =
Stefen was Tylendel, and I just don't see the connection.  (I =
confess...I just didn't read the Vanyel series til I could quote the =
dialogue, like I did with BtS, and the others). To me, Tylendel was =
wild, in-your-face and Stefen was very gentle and calm. Could someone =

BTW, I've always wanted to speculate this - some heralds reincarnate, 
either as heralds-to-be or Companions.  Who was Skif's previous life (or 
one of?) ... He and Stefen/Tylendol seemed to hit it off pretty well in 
Winds of Fury, the 3rd book in the Mage Winds.  (PB edition, p 120 
lookitup)
Could Skif have been 'lendol's twin brother (whose name I CANNOT for the 
life of me remember, since I borrowed the Last-Herald Mage from a friend 
and I don't have 'em yet)? Or was he 'lendol's Companion?  Or the Bard

Well you have to figure in differences in upbringing and such.  Tylendol was
born and raised in a different generation then Stefan was, and under
completely different circumstances.  It's the first 4 -7 years (give or take
a few) that the base personality is formed and events after that help
develop what it will be in adulthood.  For Stef and Tylendol to have even
similar personalities, they would have to have been raised under similar
circumstances, which didn't happen. Tylendol was raised with a secure
position, his father a land holder and supportive family, even if at times
it was just his twin, while Stefan lived his life on the harsh city streets,
with no one to depend on but himself and where the slightest slip could land
him in dire straights.... Gee, have I rambled on...I think I have gotten the
point across, so I'll hush now and let ya get back to your life. =>
