Well I don't want to spoil anything, but the Tayledras and the Kaleda'in are related, and they are descended from a single group. I will leave it at that but if you read the Storm books then all will become clear. Believe me no question is stupid if you don't know the answer. It is better to ask than be in ignorance, and I know I have asked a few!!!. tamlin PS I have a question for all and sundry. This is a *spoiler* for those that haven't read the Storm books so don't look!!!. At the end, someone realised that Iftel and Karse had the same god. Did I get that right, and were there gryphons in Iftel as well. I wonder why they were hidden for so long?. "How do you know the Chosen Ones?. They showed up in Hardorn, when Elspeth and Darkwind were there. With the gods, I thought it was Valdemar and Iftel that had the same gods..twin gods, right? *scratches head, wishes she had book in office*..No, wait...maybe it was all three...Doesn't Vkandis have a female counterpart? I think I remember reading that He did..and that she was put to the side. I have no idea why they remained hidden for so long. In the Mage Wind books, doesn't Elspeth remember hearing talk about gryphons up north of Valdemar? Just thought I would throw it out there. I think maybe after the mage storms a tallented person could be centanywhere to be trained. Before the storms though, I think a gift was triggered by the companion bond, right!? Still probably is in most cases. I think the dangerous gift to leave untrained was the mage gift which allowed the person to work magic though any untrained gift is dangerous.<< Well, IIRC Vanyel told Stef in MPrice that if he missuses the bardic gift, it will be blocked, and we know from the same book that other gifts are possible to block also. This seems to lead to the conclusion that any "unfit" gifted would have their gifts blocked if they didn't leave Valdemar before making trouble. sheep flavored danish to everyone Absalon Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 05 Apr 1999 08:43:48 PDT From: "Li'nia Stormdancer" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Werehunter!!!!!! And, no, I'm not gonna spoil it for anyone. I heartily agree with our Councilors that there shouldn't be any "spoilers" for new books for at least 4-6 months (this one's in paperback). {{If you don't want to know ANYTHING about the book, please stop reading. I'm not giving any storylines or plots away; almost all of this info can be gotten from reading the back of the book.}} First off, there's an intro in there that gives us a peek at Misty's life. I loved it. Plain and simple. And I learned something, too. There's the story of Alberich's Choosing (and I know I was the one a while back who asked where to find it, so I doubly thrilled). I am now a HUGE SKitty fan (I understand her stories were in some magazines or something; I never got to see them before). Also, there's a new Di Tregarde story for you fellow fans, and the original story that spun off "Children of the Night". There are several other stories in there that I thought were pretty good. Misty asked us, in the beginning of the "Grey" stories, if she thought we'd like to see more of those characters. I would! On the back of the book are several quotes from people who like the book. I think Stephen King says it best...."She'll keep you up long past your bedtime." Iftel did have gryphons. Apparently they were one of the mixed groups scattered by the Mage Storms after the fall of Urtho. Unfortunately, I can't remember all the specifics. Sorry! Yes, the Truth Spell could force you to give your opinion...but would it be right/truth? If you don't feel like you have an opinion, it would probably force you to decide what your opinion is, otherwise you would sit there with your mouth open. *grin* Emotions, I think would give you the emotion of the moment, not really long term feelings. *************************88 Tamlin: >Also, I add my voice to those who want to know how to join the Order of Amber and Marigold.
