And it would be interesting if a Tayledras Vale was >ever far enough south and west to meet them! Weeelll...that proves an interesting question. When I read White Gryphon, and read how dark the Haighlei are, I kind of thought of Gies(sp?), one of Kero's lieutenants in BtS. Kero was thinking about him and says that he's from a land so far south, no one ever heard of it...however, she didn't mention the name of his country. Gies was very dark, and ran those dogs, although I don't quite remember a mention of mastiffs in White Gryphon, but I think I remember they did have dogs. So it's possible they are still around...though they may not be as grand as they were in White Gryphon....One of my favorite parts in that book was Amberdrake's (*sigh* what a babe) 'insane' scene. I would love to see what the Haighlei think of the Tayledras and their Vales. (when I get rich and own that dream house, I'm building a bath area just like the ones they use, I swear it. ) By the way, thanks for the chocolate...it's...mmmm *licks fingers*..very good! The only other person I know that likes Misty is my mother and I got her into it. She's a sucker for Amerind stories and I got her to read Sacred Ground and just led her on from there. I read constantly and I read my books (esp. Misty) over and over again. We won't even go into how many times I've read LHM. Everyone's been commenting on Piers Anthony. Personally, I love the Incarnations of Immortality series. I'm not very fond of much of his new stuff, it seems to have really went downhill. I read a lot of Xanth in middle/high school, but I seem to have outgrown it. IMHO, Terry Pratchett is MUCH better at humorous fantasy (See Discworld series and Good Omens w/ Neil Gaiman). *Liss steps off of her soapbox and offers everyone chocolate-covered cherry sheep in humble apology for her long-windedness* Zhai'helleva! I agree that they should still exist; a society as developed as theirs was should still be around. And they _had_ made those changes to their society, that they "could change", and that sometimes the old ways aren't always the best ways. The Silver Gryphons would probably be the best group to ask (if Misty were to do that). Lady Captain Freedom Justice Walker wrote: >>I can never read enough of it. I belief a smiilar pair is Dawnfire and the Shin'a'in mage? I could be wrong about this. Here's a gift for all of you Misty fans. I am also a classically trained musician, and I rather like her. (Of course, I listen to folk music for fun -much to the dismay of my old roommate- and tend to listen to words and meaning first and voice second.) I hadn't really noticed that she sung outside of her range THAT terribly much. What drives ME mad is "Recall" on Lovers, Lore & Loss, where Steve Einhorn, who is supposed to be portraying Herald Dirk, seems to be singing with all of the emotion that people commonly feel over brands of ketchup. Also on Heralds, Harpers & Havoc, Margie Butler's voice can be a little shrill for my taste at times. (Mostly just on the first song.) But maybe that's just me, we each have our own little musical pet peeves. (I love those CDs other than that.) For the record, I have Shadow Stalker, Heralds, Harpers & Havoc and Lovers, Lore & Loss, and I like all of them (and I apologize to all English teachers on the list, for the grammar/punctuation in that sentence!) Aeon ************************ Yes Yes Yes Yes! That is something I noticed before but didn't say anything off hand about it... Xena: I am sad that people cannot simply allow for expression and ignore what they don't want to see... This show isn't real. They HAVE to twist things to make an interesting and longer story plot. As per all else I don't see that it is relivent to the situation. It is a telivision show that for the most part isn't taken nor was it meant to be taken too seriously. And they don't need to be butting into Lucy's private affairs, didn't everyone just get sick of hering of the prez. Clinton thing? Why must we pick someone else to pick apart. K. I'm done. I would assume yes, since the when the Kaled'ain (sp?) first arrive, they mention that many of them stayed back in White Gryphon, which I assume would dry up without the nearby civilization to trade with. Also, in Owlsight (don't worry - this isn't a spoiler!) Kel mentions something about many of the Silvers or something still serving as ambassadors to the court of the Haighlei, or something to that effect. And it's not that they are a civilization that doesn't change - remember the Eclipse Ceremony? They change every 20 years or so! :) And I think they also implement various smaller changes that are more or less adjustments to complement the offically mandated changes announced in the ceremony. I suppose it's possible that the actual Empire might have changed or broken down, but I'm sure that their desendants are probably still around. *************** Songrunner "A neat and orderly living space is the sign of a dangerously sick mind" - Skan *************** ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Well I finally found a topic I felt I could actually give input on. ::grins:: I just purchased "Shadowstalker" and "Heralds, Harpers, and Havoc." I really like both of them. Yes, it's true that Misty is not a *cough* professional singer, but I asummed that Selenay wasn't either. That's probably the best part of "Heralds, Harpers, and Havoc." Each character that is portrayed has their own sound and puts a bit of themselves in the music. If Misty wants to sing, let her sing. ::smiles:: With Heather Alexander, I first thought she was a guy when I downloaded the Real Audio version. Her voice does take a bit to get used to, but I still think she's a good singer. Those are the only two CD's I have of Misty's. I give them my seal of approval! ::grins:: My mother also says that the music sounds like something from the early sixies and brings back memories of when she was growing up. She actually likes the music. ::waits for the gasps of shock:: Next step is to actually get her to read Misty. She wants to, but alas, keeps finding other things to read. I guess I'll just have to shove them under her nose. Peppermint sheep to everyone! Aryenne Winterfire Protector of the Freeze-dried sheep flock http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Hollow/4736/index.html

There >might be other similarities but I haven't looked at it a lot. It was actually rather odd for me, because I read R&J for English class at the same time I read LHM. I was writing in my journal about LHM after I finished it, and I ended up doing this whole comparison. As for other similarities, lovers suiciding for each other, a feud between families, and even that they're teens. I really went into the whole doomed bit: both stories seemed to me dark and rushing, and even though you know things won't work out in the end you still hope, but of course all the issues catch up with the characters and they die. But before they do, things get resolved: Romeo's speech to Tybalt in the crypt; Van's resolution with his family, and Stef. Also, both dooms are foretold: the chorus in R&J, Talia in AotQ in Valdemar. Also, they're all forced to grow up, evolve from the children they were to adults (except, IMHO, Lendel). Also (I'm using that word too much), both are anti-war. hmm . . . Romeo_and_Juliet - West_Side_Story - The Last Herald Mage I also noticed some similarities between Arrow's_Flight and A_ Midsummer_Night's_Dream - May Day rites, lovers . . . . I think Hamlet may be becoming my favorite Shakespeare, although my favorite Shakespeare quotes are from elsewhere: Lord, what fools these mortals be! - A_Midsummer_Night's_Dream There's daggers in men's smiles. - Macbeth Shakespeare quoting sheep for all, Ambermoon Singer of Fire _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web.
