I was thinking about the comment made about the Owls books, about them being written for a younger audience. Well even if it is so what. Speaking from a venerable age of 19 (just) I still enjoy reading light fairy tales, and I wouldn't count Owls Flight or Sight as a fairy tale. >Rainwing Wrote: > Here's an obmisty: If you lived in Velgarth and you were able to >choose the gifts and the amounts of them (being reasonable) that you >would have, what would you choose? Id have to choose Mage-gift (at any level) with a touch of mind-speech and/or fore-sight. Both very powerful gifts, even at minor levels, and enough to get chosen! :-) Lets see, my obmisty. Where would you be from if you lived on Velgarth? I think Id choose the Eastern Empire, but be one of the invading mages who came into what was left of Anicars Kingdom. (forgive me, I'm at school, don't have my books, and can't remember the name of the kingdom!!!) Even though the Empire might be "evil", only so much as the Emperor. The people are still like people all over the world, and the benefits from having been from the Empire would help in aiding the people under the new king. (Can't remember his name! Ahhhh!) Anyway, I have class to attend! Chocolate covered sheep shaped strawberries to all! death have been greatly exaggerated Message-ID: <372083D2.32BFD056-+AT+-geocities.com> I'M BAAAAACK!!! A shadow screeches as it sails into the room. With a shimmering crescendo on a harp, it materializes into a tall, slender redhead. Sometime in January, a project came up. I didn't check my mail for a while, lazy person that I am, and then my computer went schitzo, and then... well, I finally just changed email addresses, and ta da! Rhiannon Shadowsong has returned from the realm of the dead. I'm not a newbie, so anyone who splooshes me will get splooshed right back, and not with fresh water either. The good ole salty stuff. I stopped using that (so hard to get clothes to feel proper again) but I will make an exception for you. I know you people, and I wouldn't put it past you. You see, I'm wearing satin, and it spots when it gets wet. Although I just looked at the last digest, and it's completely full of people that weren't here or didn't talk much back three months ago. I've missed so much! ::sniffle:: Jadzia: --On page 211 of Magic's Pawn, Jaysen says,"...Yfandes *chose* Vanyel? The only full-grown Companion in the field that hasn't Chosen-the Companion that hasn't Chosen for over ten years-and now she's Chosen *Vanyel?*"-- Actually, I'm fairly sure that isn't referring to Yfandes choosing previously. Most of the companions choose by a certain age (remember Talia telling Elspeth that most companions don't choose until they reach a certain age?) Yfandes was waiting for Vanyel, so it's probable that she had to wait much longer than Companions generally do. Also, the Monarch's Own Companion doesn't die, but goes out looking for the next in line. And as for how they half of the bond dies, usually they kind of waste away. 'Lendel commit suicide, you recall, and when the Herald-Mages were all being killed Fandes said something along the lines of "they usually have time to say goodbye..." blah blah blah, and then they decided that if the death was sudden, it was possible that the Companions could just keel over, like the first one did. I can't recall either his name, or his Chosen, but I'm too lazy to go look it up. Most of the Heralds and Companions die together, like Ylsa and hers, when attacked by enemies. That's how most heralds die in general, and it seems to me that if one died, the other half would keep fighting rather than going for help, because they wouldn't want to live anyway. I liked the Bard books too (Knight of Ghosts and Shadows, Summoned to Tourney). Well, that's it for now. Ack, I lie. I wanted to ask whatever happened to the Friendship Ring, because I was talking to my friend (shout out: hheeeeyyy Winterfire! told ya I'd get around to re-subscribing!) and she had no idea what I was talking about. Last I saw, GryphonStorm had gotten it from Kalistia, whom I had passed it to. Anybody seen it since? Go gentle, she says as she admires the gold, silver, and platinum rings on her hands, her legacy from the Ring. Im new to the list and a HUGE ML fan!! I have been reading posts for a couple of days now and am interested in introductions... if ya'll don't mind... I haven't read everything yet.. haven't had time... but am currently embarking on the storm series... loving it as usual.. My first ML was The Last Herald Mage series.... and after reading the series I dreamed that I was a mage on a hill summoning power from a series of nodes in a foriegn land... my hair was silver-white... ice blue eyes and I had a robe- a majestic purple one... in my dream I raised my hands to the advancing armies of this unknown enemy and then I woke up.... I then decided that I had better take it easy with my imagination and try to keep in within the lands in the books... Needless to say Im a fun loving easy going chocolate lover...loving the series and trying to collect the books in hard back editions as I trudge along in the duldrums of Tucson AZ.... I think I should like to live in these books forever.....but I had beter watch what I wish for...
