Message-ID: <19990514225712.74515.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> Heyla Sunny! I don't like Stefen either. He seemes selfish and I don't know what else. He just bothers me. I think he thinks he's so cool. Vanyel seems selfish too. I hate the way he doesn't want to be friends with anyone because he's afraid they'll die. Doesn't he ever think of himself?? I know Heralds aren't supposed to, but who cares. That gets on my nerves. I also couldn't belive Stefen was a reincarnation of Tylendel. I liked Tylendel, but Stefen was a selfish idiot. I didn't like Moondance either. He is a wannabe of Starwind, and that bothered me. Kris thought too much of his looks, so did Vanyel. Melenna bothered me in Magic's Pawn and Magic's Promise. Mekeal thinks all brawn and no brain, bothers me. Anyone want to add? _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. There isn't a name mentioned but in... okay I thought it was in AotQ, in Orientation Class, but I can't find it, it might be in there somewhere or else in in Winds of Fate or Change... anyhoo, no name but someone says that the last repudiation of a Herald was 200 years ago. Lyndel was repudiated in about 798 AF (according to the timeline at the front) and the Arrows trilogy started sometime after 1376 AF, meaning it's been way longer than 200 years since Lyndel. I hope Misty tells us about the others sometime. I'd kind of like to know what they did. If I can find the Winds books I'll see if I can locate some text ev. I have to say that I like Vanyel, and I think that his not wanting to be friends with anyone was a defensive thing, so that he was protected against further hurt. Now I know Shakespeare said 'better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all' but after losing so mnay don't you think that he would want to stay clear for a while. I think the main reason that Talia is so self sacraficing is because, she is a herald, and she is an empath, so can't really stand others being uncomfortable around her, and in the series, when her shields start to fail she is much more sensitive

Well, things have certainly gotten exciting around here lately...but I've got a
question.  This may be just because I don't have time to watch the news or read
the paper, but what's going on in China?  We were watching the French news in
French class this morning, and I caught a brief glimpse of many people in China
protesting the US.  One of the people interviewed said something about a war with
the US being inevitable and so on, and (not wanting to be in a war) wanted to know
what was going on...
Well, obMisty, my least favorite character would have to be....oh, dear.  I like
them all...but the one I like least is Talia.  She's, in my opinion, slightly too
self-sacrificing.  I know she's a Herald and all, and they're naturally
self-sacrificing, but she always seems to be so perfect about it.  But I still
like her.  My favorite character is Firesong, simply because he somewhat reminds
me of myself.  I'm not gonna get into how, but anyway, what about everyone else?
        Peace-loving sheep to all!

My least favourite characters would have to be Tremane in the first two books, But in the third one i liked him alot better, and at first An'desha, because he whined so much, but i guess i could understand that to an extent. I have a friend who is like that, and i try to be as understanding as posible, but sometimes i just want to reach out and wrap my hands around his neck and throttle him into silence, but he'd probobly break my arm =o)
Star Wars Episode I toys and stuff to all! mostly for me though =o)

He was not a communist. Biffed Indonesian dictator Suharto was not a communist. Batista in Cuba a few decades ago was as corrupt as you could want, but he was not communist. Communism is just a political belief, ie that the state should keep an eye on things to stop unbridledly greedy people getting away with all the cuntry's resources, and that it should redistribute wealth to remove the class system and alleviate poverty. It doesn't always work, but since when does anything work exactly as intended and result in utopia? you yourself asked me where the perfect country was. [Just imagine all the good that could be done if even half Bill Gates' fortune was redistributed. He certainly doesn't need it all - it's rolling in faster thatn he could possibly spend it.] Like any other belief on the political specrum, it can be implemented democratically - such as the Allende government in Chile in the 70s - or dictatorially. End of second night! After tomorrow it will be over! I think its themes can be found in Valdemar as well; LHM in particular comes to mind. And Vanyel starts singing "Impossible Dream" . . . . But he did. Every moment of his life. As do all Heralds. And Tayledras, for that matter. I could elaborate, but it doesn't really have to be explained so I will spare my poor listsibs. Some questions that came out of putting on La Mancha and I think have relevance in everyone's life: What is your impossible dream? What is your Dulcinea? What are your windmills? What is your Enchanter? View of the world: as it is or as it ought to be? In MPromise Van chose life over death because of his duty; was there anything more holding him? He thought perhaps love: do the two concepts mix to form a view of the world "as it ought to be"? Did he believe he could bring that about? " 'You don't expect me to believe that old cliche that music can change the world?' 'Things usually become cliched precisely because there's a grain of truth in them.' " (MPrice) But he saw reality too, perhaps more clearly than anyone else. (Sorry, Vanyel is just an incredible person I empathized with from the first page of MPawn. And I've been obsessed with "Man of La Mancha" since time immemorial.) quite briefly on another note, I took the US History AP exam today. my sympathies to all other victims. sheep carrying music boxes playing "Dulcinea", Ambermoon Singer of Fire Royal Defender of the Brat _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Anyway, I'm /very/ sorry and extremely embarrassed about that, and I beg forgiveness of the councilors and all of my listsibs. Now, on to other matters... >Well the obmisty: Does anyone have any idea of what the differences in the >schools of magic are. re they just in the moral codex, or are there also >different types of magic belonging to different schools? I believe that it's something of a mixture of both...the moral codes are certainly different, of course, but I know that at least the style of training, if not the magick itself, also differs between schools. For example, Kethry, who belonged to the White Winds school, used a great deal of ritual and physical substances for her spells, whereas Tayledras and Heraldic Mages appear to manipulate the energy more directly, seemingly without 'spells' at all (of course, this depends upon what you consider a spell, but by this, I mean basically a specific /ritual/ performed to bring about the desired end). And it would also seem that the magickal energies themselves are taken from different sources, and are perhaps different themselves, depending upon the type of Mage...for example, it seems that some magick, specifically that hedge-wizards and earth-witches use, is the life-force of the earth, but magickal energies are clearly also drawn from ley-lines and nodes (what /is/ the name of the third, smallest kind? It's driving me insane, and I can't remember!!!)...so, are the energies of the earth real magick, or simply energy of another type, unrelated to node-energy and the such? Do the nodes simply hold large deposits of this earth-energy, or is it a different substance altogether? The same goes for the personal energy a mage can draw upon from within him/herself...is that 'real' magical power, or a life-force? So, in conclusion, I suppose that I think that the schools of magic do practice different kinds, if only in their methods, and /possibly/ use different energies entirely. Oh, and one more thing, before I leave... Ambermoon wrote: Did anyone else notice the similarity in /name/ between the Valdemaran horned deity and the one here on Earth...Kernos; Cerrunos(sp?)...they're pronounced largely the same, I believe....
