Message-ID: <99061312394123.12446-+AT+-webc02.globecomm.net> Heyla all! I have just two quick questions for everybody here. First, are the Canadians for world domination still around? Before I joined this list, I read some of the old archives, and I noticed people who were Canadians for world domination. If there are, I would like to be one...although I'm not Canadian, just a Canadian wannabe! =) I will be Canadian soon though, when I go off to College...! {All right, I don't graduate for another two years, but that's soon enough!} My other question is about the word ashke. I know that it means "beloved", but is that just in a shaych sense? Or is it used for everyone? And ke'chara (I hope I spelled that right!), does that mean "beloved" too? Sorry if none of this makes sense, my brain is still pretty fried from my school finals =) wind to thy wings, Lady Ember Echosinger, the choreographically challenged Singer of Fire (yay!) {Jedi Knight in training} ----------------------------------------------- FREE! Or is it used for >everyone? And ke'chara (I hope I spelled >that right!), does that mean "beloved" too? I'm pretty sure ashke is a word that can be used in any relationship. Ke'chara also means beloved, but that i think would be more for a child or a family member, maybe like the term sweetie? I don't know really, and before i start to ramble on and on... Oh yeah, well, Gotta go! Honey dipped chocolate covered strawberry sheep for all =o) _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Message-ID: <017d01beb5e6$26b5b260$a80611ac-+AT+-internal.mindspring.com> Ke'chara means beloved as well, as far as I know... In the Black Gryphon, Skandrannon found Ke'chara, a gryphon 'prototype', for lack of a better term, who had the mind of a child, and she told him that was her name, even though that was pretty much all she'd been called. It stands to reason that it is a term for a child, or in the sense of parent to child, seeing as how Savil also used the term for Vanyel. (I just have a vague idea of the charactor's stories) But since I read the Di Trgarde books AFTER I read all the Serrated Edge ones, the first thing *I* thought of was TANNIM! When I read the discription of that kid... :) And then I figured the differences in the stories asper Di & Tannim's were either point of view differences and/or random rearranging of facts as a story gets more fleshed out. Though what I DON'T Understand, is why in Jinx High magic was rare around the area 'cause everyone feared awakening the sleeping goddess; and in Chrome they were tossing magic like water... or was Tannim far enough from the magic null zone? (I read the two series a bit of time apart & never got around to confirming whether the null zone covered where Tannim was... > > > Ellevaranachai Shay'Nara'Val > Herald Trainee, but Bard wannabe =3D> > Rethwellan by Nature, Chosen by Virtue > > ------=_NextPart_000_0009_01BEB38B.AF4AE620 > Content-Type: text/html; > charset="iso-8859-1" > Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable > > > > http-equiv=3DContent-Type> > > > > >

My reasoning is that many of the creatures (nonhuman, of course) don't seem to exist in the Velgarth world; it MAY be that they are on different continents, & most of the races didn't see fit to leave thier continent, but then the lizard-person wasn't one of the Velgarth critters; since IN Velgarth they were only seen in the (errr, forgot the name of the area, & don't have the books), so they probably don't travel much. Also, this wouldn't explain why the elves, who seem to exist JUST outside the world; haven't been seen ever, in Velgarth. Nor the techno-species (forgot names)... Also, chai is the westernization of the Chinese word for "tea" (btw, NOT a part of this discussion; that wierd stuff that is called "Chai Tea"? Don't drink it, it's really bad, too sweet & too thick, and esp considering some of the stuff in the tea isn't even Chinese, I have no idea why they claim it to be a "traditional Chinese tea" ugh!) , which might be just her exotic-izing an otherwise normal drink... just a thought. Another possibility, is that it could be the future, where some of the races and peoples evolved, but that's a wee bit cheese... all in all, I prefer to think that the two worlds are different, and the similarities exist because they were created by the same author... and unfortunate, but true fact of reading any form of fiction. * -------------------------------------------------------------------- * "Eventually we come to a point where High Science becomes indistinguishable from High Magick" -NOT misquoting A.C.
