I love sporks. Our school cafeteria used to have sporks, back in elementary school. Of course, they also served the milk in single serve plastic bags, neither of which happen anymore. I would love to be part of the spork empire, Herald Aryn!=) Now you've done it, Yvonne. You had to mention Smarties, didn't you? I am an inadvertant Smarties addict. One time, I went to Canada, and picked up a box of Smarties. Soon, I was hooked. Everytime my friends go to Canada, they have to bring me back some, or listen to me whining for months. I became twice as excited about going to France when I realised that they sold Smarties there. It is a sad, sad condition. Is there a support group? Um...ObMisty...Well, I really liked "The Black Swan" and "The Fire Rose", but "Firebird" bored me, I'm not quite sure why. But "The Black Swan" was really really good. Firesong lamented the fact that many of the relationships he had were superficial ones of people only having interest in him because of his looks. This condition helped reassure him that his friendships and his relationship with Silverfox were genuine, and his friends liked him because of his personality. i agree with you --- here was an extremely talented & beautiful person who was (despite all of his power & prestige) a bit insecure when it came to personal relationships. also, someone mentioned that firesong is rather spoiled --- check out the last winds book (in the caravan going north, after meeting w/ some of ancar's elite -- trying not to spoil): darkwind thinks that firesong has been rather sheltered because he's a healing adept. since the driving purpose of the tayledras is to heal the land, then any mages whose gifts are uniquely suited to this task would be catered to (ie: spoiled), either by accident or design. also, as a healing adept, firesong is rather powerful, not only in ability, but also prestige. anyone who is involved w/ him (lover or friend) would also be powerful by association. someone else wrote about Firesong (i think i deleted this): since vanyel & firesong are so much alike, did firesong expect to lifebond, etc.? yes, he did. this is dealt w/ in storm warning when he realizes that he & an'desha are growing apart (trying not to spoil). he mulls over his life-long fascination w/ vanyel, & *dare i say* desire to emmulate vanyel's life as closely as possible (somehow i think that he wouldn't want to experience that *lovely* end of mprice, but who knows). ¤Silve¤ (& anyone else who *hasn't* read mpawn, mprice, mpromise -- lhm) -- hope you enjoy them!!! my favorite velgarth books by a longshot!!! ########################################################################################## ########################################################################################## response to spoiler (you've been warned): ############################################################################################# # # # # # ¤Silve¤ also wrote: Oh, i know, but this is an Owlsight spoiler (sorta) S P O I L E R S P A C E Ok, now some people have said that a review for Owlsight gave some plot for Owlknight, so I'm checking to see that the review I read was a correct one. Does Owlsight focus on both Darian and another girl, umm, I think she was the new healer for Errold's Grove? Or is that the wrong one? (Ok that may be confusing.) If anyone has the web address for a correct review please include it on one of their posts, thanks! yes, it does focus on darian & keisha. the *wrong* review is listed on amazon.com (the 3rd synopsis?), and it refers to elements in owlknight -- ie, missing parents & visiting the empire thaaat's all, folks! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jun 1999 16:06:01 CDT From: Ariel Briggs To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Fairgrove, Sporks, Sheep, and general Fluff Message-ID: <19990623210602.78831.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> Silve wrote: >I will quite readily join the Spork Empire- always loved those all-purpose >cafeteria utensils. *g* *Aryn appears holding a giant spork with a halo floating above it* I pronounce Silve Co-Ruler of the Great Spork Empire. *Hands Silve the spork as well as a very corny Buger-King-type cardboard crown* ~Herald Aryn Bearer of the Magic blade Morrice (for all you newbies, that's pronounced like Maurice) (hopeful) Goddess of all things Crunchy Supreme ruler of the Great Spork Empire _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Why not? I *like* sporks. I read The Black Swan recently and, though I did really like parts of it, when I was done I found myself wondering where the rest of the story was... Demi-Spoiler alert: I don't *think* I'm giving anything away, but be warned... For one thing, I kept expecting there to be a point when the story turned to Odette's point of view, and it never did. In fact, the actual romance between Siegfried and Odette didn't even come about until near the end of the book. I had been assuming this was the actual plot of the book, so I wound up a bit dissatisfied. Also, Siegfried didn't much appeal to me as a hero, and neither did his bosom pal, Benno. (Benno. What sort of a name for anyone is *Benno?*) Still, The Black Swan is a good book, and had it come from anyone but Misty I'd have been satisifed. I just tend to hold her to a slightly higer standard. :) Zha'hai'allav'a, Raven Darkblade and Mor the raven, Holy Hand of the Goddess of Elves, Member of the Mistic Circle, Webmaster of the Circle of Stone, Knight and Founding Member of the Order of Unsung Heroes; http://www.angelfire.com/ky/Ashke/ - The Labyrinth _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. I'm sort of a newbie - I was on the list about a year ago, but I had to quit 'cause I had a ton of homework. Anyway, um, I kinda wanted to reply to Lady Ember. She said: "Ok, now some people have said that a review for Owlsight gave some plot for Owlknight..." I was wondering - well, first, the review that you got, that you asked about, was right, I think. But I was wondering if the review that gave the plot for Owlknight is the review from Uncle Hugo's Science Fiction Bookstore's newsletter. Their freaky little blurb about the plot of Owlsight had /nothing/ to do with the actual plot. On the subject of sporks... Did you know that until this last year (eighth grade) a couple of my friends had no idea what a spork was? *shakes her head sadly* those poor, deprived children... And Smarties are those yummy little candies, right? They're /so/ good! Anyways, I'm done... Wind to thy wings, fare thee well, goodbye, etc. LadyKitsune _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I'd love to be part of the vast Spork Empire. I feel so deprived...we never had sporks in elementary *or* middle school...wonder if we'll have them in high (*crossing fingers*). We did have the milk pouches (they took 'em away after we filled 'em up with air, and popped 'em). I haven't read _The_Black_Swan_ yet, but now, I'm gonna have to read it. Yet another book to read. Yay! Now my mom can coerce me into doing my summer homework... S P O I L E R S P A C E _Owlflight_ is more of Darien's story, and the story of the new Healer of Errold's Grove, Keisha Alder. There is also the reappearance of Firesong and Silverfox. There is also a lot more about the way the Tayledras live, and the structure of their Vales (yay! I've been looking for that for a while...)
