Every once in a while, whether it be for upgrades or maintenance, he does go down, and there are a few ways that you can check instead of sending a post to the list in general asking if you're still subscribed. I'm not saying that that is bad, per se, but that you have other options :). If you aren't receiving any mail from the Misty List for some amount of time, and you think that it's odd, then you can send an e-mail to listproc-+AT+-herald.co.uk with the following message: which Short and sweet, this will have Vanyel send you back an e-mail with the mailing lists that you are subscribed to. If you receive an e-mail and the list "mercedes-lackey" isn't included, then you need to resubscribe. If you receive no e-mail at all, then Van's down, and he should be back up hopefully soon thereafter. I can hazard a guess as to why the archives worked but there was no mail that was sent out, simply because they are on different programs. All mail that is received must be processed in one way for archiving, and another for general distribution. In this case, it was the distribution program that didn't work. Most other questions can be answered by the FAQ (frequently asked questions), which is located at: http://www.herald.co.uk/local_info/lackey_faq.html All of that being said... How many people on the list would like to see Misty start writing some science fiction? You can tell that Misty had some imput by the neat story line. I love it! I noticed the lack of mail, too, but just blamed it on the fact that Yahoo might be freaking out due to the fact that I couldn't check it by the pop server, and had to do it via the webpage. Hmm. I haven't received anything for a few days either. Has anyone else read "The Fire Rose" by Misty? Her Valdmar books are checked out a lot of the time, and I don't get much time to go to the bookstore. Also, going back a few days, before the e-mail quit coming, several people have asked about other fantasy authors. I found a book called "Sister Light, Sister Dark" by Jane Yolen. It was kind of interesting. The book is pretty much about, calling a twin from the dark, and about the worship of the Mother Goddess and amazons. They said her books rarely come in and when they do they aren't there very long- Id much rather, for my wallett- buy them used but... I guess Ill just have to frequent Amazon.com. It is interesting, after already reading the LHM, Storm and Oathbound series, to see where-how etc. everything got started. Im not sure if I would have enjoyed it more if I read them in chronological order or not. Has anyone read them in chronologial order? Does anyone have an opinion about which was more- fun?
