After some thought and re-reading By the Sword, I have come to my conclusion. Not sure if this really needs spoilr space but I'll put one in just in case... S P O I L E R S P A C E Okay toward teh beginning of the book, Tarma is watching the Mercs hired to protect the Manor (Kero's brother's place), and begin to watch Lyla Stormcloud practice. Tarma's thoughts then turn to how Lyla ended up in her clan. Lyla's mother had been a Full Bard, with an unusual amount of wanderlust, but before this she was an assassin who came from the far south. I wonder if her wanderlust was of nessecity because of her former profession.
