I would guess that Van would return as a Herald again and Stef as a
companion.  My reasoning being that Van is, IMVHO the dominate of the two.
While Van was the follower when they first meet, that was no longer the case
after Stef's suicide and reincarnation.   Even in the Sorrows Van was still
the leader.  However you've forgotten one member of the team.  What about
Van's companion?  (I know it starts with a Y but I'm at work and do not have
access to my books.  MUST reread them!)   She did/does have a strong link to
Van, enough so that she was with Van and Stef in the Sorrows.   I don't see
her allowing herself to be left behind should the call ever come.  Perhaps
she too would be a herald this time?   What do you think?

she would have been. maybe she will be a herald again!!!!!

Heyla!

I'm not sure what I think will happen to Van/Stef/Yfandes, but I'm sure that
the three of them will stay together! =]

My own personal opinion on the whole 'what exactly are companions'
discussion is that it is all very vague. What I mean is that maybe Misty
left it that way on purpose? You'd think if she wanted to, she would have
had someone explain it. I think she's still trying to figure out exactly
what she wants them to be...I mean, the figuring out about reincarnations
happened slowly, during the Arrows books they seemed to just be very
brilliant special *horses*, not angels or former Heralds at all. So she
didn't know then where she was going with the Companions, and maybe she's
still trying to figure it out. Anyway, that's my own *very* humble opinion.
