In Magic's Price, when Vanyel was talking to the councilors about the "magic cleansing" in Karse, the god of Karse is mentioned as Vkanda, but in Storm, the god of Karse is Vkandis. Why do you suppose the change of name? Also, Vkanda wasn't just used during the period of magic cleansing, but also before that, while Vanyel was border fighting. 2. On pg. 99, paperback version of Magic's Price, Randale told Vanyel that he (Vanyel) did his "usual thorough and lawyerlike job". Are there lawyers in Valdemar? Or are they just people who do thorough jobs? * * End Spoiler Dry sheep for all who would like some relief from extreme humidity. Well, and mind you this is a guess, there was a lot of upheaval during Van's time. One bit that we don't seem to know much about was that Kalenel (Vkandis' consort) either left or was "removed" (for want of a better word) from the Karsite religion. So it's possible that during this time the Karsite god had his name changed along with his Writ. Perhaps though, a simpler explanation might be that the language simply shifted. > 2. Or are they just people who do thorough jobs? Well, we know from Talias Orientation classes that there are judges out there, so why not lawyers?
