I believe I've got a bit of authority on the subject. *clears throat* Being an Yvonne IRL, I can say for sure that Yvonne is pronounced ee-VAHN, not ee-VAN. I am not an Evan. Nor am I an AH-von, which is like Avon only with a short a sound. And most horrid, I am NOT a YAH-von. NEVER a YAH-von. If I was Yfandes and called YAH-fandes, I would most likely become the first Companion ever to give my Herald a swift hard kick to the patootie. But then again, maybe it's just me. Or an Yvonne thing. Take your pick. :) But enough fluff - might as well get on to some meatier Misty topics (or, more likely, scrawny, meatless topics. I'm still a bit jet-lagged so I have an excuse) While in Edinburgh I visited a bookshop called 'Waterstone's' (I think) in which, like the fan I am, I looked up Misty's books. Much to my surprise, her latter novels such as BG and WG, SR and SB have DIFFERENT COVER PICTURES. And nice ones too, more of a collage of faces done in pencils & pencil crayons that made Jody Lynn's art look rather garish in comparison. This was because it was published by a different publisher - Mystic or something. The artwork reminded me of old photos, the ones done in sepia tones rather than b&w. The only thing I did not like was the prtrayal of the gryphs on the covers - Skan looked anorexic and his earfeathers stuck up a good foot off the top of his narrow little head. Other than that, I MUCH rpefered them to the north american DAW style art that graces most of our books covers. Needless to say, I was dissapointed that it was still Larry's art that graced the insides of the novel. Can't have it all, I guess. Also, I managed to get my grubby little paws on a copy of 'Sacred Ground' while I was flying, which whiled away the 7 hours spent in 'cargo class' flying over. (damn planes) It was not a half-bad book, I guess. I found it a little disconcerting in that the passage of time was rather ... hard to see, I guess. I think the book took place over the course of a few months, but to my befuddled little brain it seemed only a few days. Kinda like Hamlet. ;P Looking over that, I am sad to say that I appear to be more jet-lagged than I thought. *sighs* Ah well. :) Yvonne Councilor of Mist Goddess of the Water-Borne; Demoness of Airplane 'Food' Carrier of the Enchanted Bucket (tm), Knight of Fluff & Lady of the OoUH Head of the Albertan CfWD Division ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 'The sheep shall be the first sign.
