I can't really identify with Vanyel either, to be perfectly honest, although my reaction to his printed existance does no harm to MY fillings. (Cennydd said, "Van just makes my teeth hurt.") Usually when life gives me lemons, I change them into mangoes, which may or may not be better, depending on the situation. I've been told by more than one friend that I'm the most stress-free person they know mostly because I just don't let things bother me too much. I deal with, but I don't worry, I don't lose any sleep over, and I certainly don't give them more importance then they're worth. Sometimes this can be just as bad in it's own way, though. This may also just be my natural laziness speaking. Thinking back, I'm not sure who I identify with most, now. When I was younger I was painfully shy and withdrawn (Gawd, now look what's happened to me! Oh the horrors!) and so truely identified with Talia and her ordeals. But although I dont really _connect_ with Tarma and Kethry all that much, I certainly concider them my favorite pair in Misty's works. :) > (BTW, just a side note, but has anyone else noticed a definite similarity > of personality between the Great Dane and the Last Herald-Mage?). *LOL* Actually, now that you have pointed it out, I can. *thinks on it a moment* Actually, there is a great similarity between the Last Herald Mage and the play itself, perhaps not in the general storyline, but in the supporting events. Both lose loves, both have a steady companion (or Companion), both have problems with responsibility at one point or another, and so on. I'd go on, but it's been a while since I've read either. > Besides, if everyone liked the same thing, think what a haggis shortage > there would be. =) OY! No bashing the monarch o' the puddin' race! *G* That's just unfair. Stefen!? He drove me crazy! Every time I read the LHM trillogy and Stef comes into the scene it drives me crazy. I don't know why really- I guess I always liked 'Lendel more. I mean no offence to you, you're intitled to your opinion, but I can't help but share mine. Blah! ::shutters in disgust:: The first time I read the part where Van and Stef were in the barraks (right befor Van dies) I actually had to put the book down and take a break because it upset me so much. 'Lendel was great- Stefen drove me nuts. ~*Kory*~ === ~*Korendel k'Vesta*~ ~*Stealer of Names and Changer of Spellings*~ ~*Kalma-Shait Nzambi Tripeta Leshy'a Psyche'Bes (AOL RPG)*~ ~*Notorious Lackey fiend of prestigious local rank*~ ~*Truth can hardly be held in the same light as vanity*~ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Message-ID: <19990908002210.7068.rocketmail-+AT+-web1301.mail.yahoo.com> Well... I went to the Michigan Renisance Festivle yesterday and yo'll never guess who I saw... Vanyel! I swear! He looked just like the cover of MP! Exact same outfit and everything! I wanted to go over and talk to him, but my Friend wouldn't let me. She said I embarissed her when I talked to strange people. I did however get to talk to a Hawkbrother. That wasn't what he really was, but he was wearing clothes that blended in with the tree he was sitting in and his hair was in dreds which were green tinged. He also has a large bird in the tree with him. Whoa- It was groovy! There were lots of strage people there... I could've swoon I saw Frank Zappa (who's dead) and Willie Nelson (ick!). It was a strange, strange day, but I found several other Misty fans! I'm actually of the opinion that one of the reasons everyone likes Van so much is because he's one of those examples of people that have such hopelessly messed-up lives (at least most of the time), that it almost always makes you feel better about your own life, since yours usually isn't quite that bad. Someone mentioned that they like to read Van when they are really depressed, and that it makes them feel better. I totally agree, and I think that this has a lot to do with it. Just out of curiosity, where could I get a copy of that 3-in-1 Arrows of the Queen? I'm attempting to collect the ML books in hardcover (Mostly the ones I find in used bookstores, of course!), and I think that would be great. What bookclub was that from, does anyone know? And do they still offer it? Wind to thy Wings, Songrunner ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it.
