Message-ID: <19990921220832.18481.rocketmail-+AT+-web601.yahoomail.com> Heyla List-Sibs! Someone asked about the difference between a Veil and a Vale. A Vale is a place where the Tale'edras (or Tayledras) live, and a Veil is what they call the magic "curtain" that surrounds the Vale, keeping the weather inside like a nice spring/summer day. I believe it also serves as a sort of camouflage as well. I liked the second Owl book better. Unfortunately, I have the first book with me and the second is in storage for another 7 months....sigh.... I don't think we have to wait too much longer for the next SERRAted Edge book, "Tempest Fugit". Someone also asked which is the best book to introduce their friend to that series. I think maybe "Chrome Circle"; there really aren't any complicated issues in that one, it's just straight-up fantasy. Um....that's it for now! === ---<---<---<----+AT+- Li'nia Stormdancer -+AT+---->--->--->--- Stormdance k'T'more y Kuus & Tril, Peon to the Powers That Be, Devotee to the OoUH, (Hopeful)Goddess of All Things Possessed, Mindmate to Styx A'ska, Caretaker of the Arena of Discussion and Dissention __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Does anyone have a good suggestion on which I should introduce him to? I've already given him Sacred Ground, just not sure what else. Definitely NOT When the Bough Breaks or Born to Run. I haven't read WtBB but I've heard that the plot is mainly concerned with child abuse. Born to Run... I just hated it because I was not expecting that to be the focus and if he's a sensitive person he'll probably not like it. I think Chrome Circle might be OK, though I haven't read it. I skimmed it and it looked 'clean'. Wheels...something, looked like not-such a good idea. Hope that helps!:) Alexia ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Sep 1999 18:05:17 CDT From: "Adieu McClane" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: RE: Owlbooks Message-ID: <19990921230517.86551.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> >From: "Carrie MacDonald" >How about the Bard books? On that note...how ABOUT the Bard books as a starting point? they dont really have anything to do with child abuss per se and i think theyre a good representation of her urban fantasy work Always Adieu "Time flies when the Devil drives" ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Sep 1999 16:36:00 -0700 (PDT) From: "Korendel k'Vesta" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: RE: Owlbooks Message-ID: <19990921233600.16202.rocketmail-+AT+-web1302.mail.yahoo.com> --- Carrie MacDonald wrote: > I have a friend I would like to introduce to Misty's > urban fantasy, but he > has problems with the subject of many of Misty's > books re: the abuse of > children. Well the only of Misty's urban fantasy books that really have child abuse and the likes are the SERRAted Edge books... So really the DT Investigations, of Bedlamz Bardz (Eric & Co.) would probibly be good. The last friend I introduced to Misty was a musician I met at RenFaire. I gave her the Bardz books and she was hooked. I also gave her the Free Bard books (not urban, but still great). I don't know if that was much help, but I tryed... ~*Korendel*~ (did anyone else notice in the second 'Owl' book that Misty went sheep crazy?? She was probably about the same age as a graduating highschool student. It probably feels weird because the shellpersons tend to be socially immature. Their first encounters with romantic feelings will be after they have left the program, and even then they are discouraged from acknowledging, let alone exploring their emotions.
