Yvonne wrote: "Well, it snowed again yesterday. *grumblegrumble* Sometimes I really dislike living in the 'Frozen North'." Is this coming from one of the list's Canada for World Domination members? I can't belive my ears. The rest of the quotes are from the good Councilor also I haven't read the Black Swan yet, so I can't comment on all the things people have said of it, mostly because I have read the stuff they said. Then there is Owlflight s p o i l e r s p a c e "Well, now I remember why I stayed away from buying them. And whoever said that that picture of Kero in OwlSight makes her look like a milkmaid on valium should be awarded a prize. It was a truely accurate discription!!" Lol, I must have missed that describtion somewhere among the other stuff. Very accurate indeed. "However, the second book was better, esp about Keisha's life in the village. She has a nice, *normal* type life, really." If you regard this type of life ordinary, I'd like to see what kind of life you consider exstra-ordinary. I'm getting a bit tired of people who don't feel like learning about their gifts though, haven't we seen it before? Okay, she started learning as soon as the teachers came to her, but she didn't want to go out of her way to learn stuff, did she? If I had a gift like that, I'd travel pretty far to learn to use it properly. "But again, I have to complain about Kero. *She* became a sterio-type" I second that, what happened to the good old Kero we knew and loved? She doesn't seem as concerned with her people as she used to, and somehow she also seemed less... wise, I guess is the best word for it. Flexible - that's a better word, and Yvonne used it also - thank you Yvonne. "That, and Firesong was... tame. Dare I say it - plain? He had none of the flamboyance or wit that he had in Winds" Yes, there were good sides in the book, we saw less to that peacock - one of the main reasons I loathed the Mage Wind books so much - ups, I'll probably get into trouble with certain listsibs fotr saying that. I didn't exactly like him in OFlight, but he wasn't as annoying as in former times. I like the style of writing in the Owl books so far, so I'm looking forward to the third book. And if people would excuse me, I have a new Feist book to return to. You are going over the fact that she also had responsibilities to the village she was the only possible one who had any gift of healing. And they did do a kind of substitution about the teachers. They sent her the books of the healers collegium. Also in the book somewhere she talked about thinking of going but that she didn't want to be alone there and that she didn't make friends easily. >"But again, I have to complain about Kero. *She* >became a sterio-type" >I second that, what happened to the good old Kero we >knew and loved? She still has the attitude but she is also getting older as well now. She probably doesn't have the stamina anymore. Also we aren't seeing the full picture when it comes to Kero now. You see one little part with Kero not an entire novel dealing with her. It would make a difference if you saw her in the same type of circumstances that you did in By The Sword. > >"That, and Firesong was... tame. Dare I say it - >plain? He had none of the flamboyance or wit that he >had in Winds" Of course Firesong's character changed between the Books with Karal in it and the new books. He now has someone stable in his life and a person to help guide him. >Yes, there were good sides in the book, we saw less to >that peacock - one of the main reasons I loathed the >Mage Wind books so much - ups, I'll probably get into >trouble with certain listsibs fotr saying that. >I didn't exactly like him in OFlight, but he wasn't as >annoying as in former times. lol I always thought of him as annoying as well. I didn't like him when I first met him. I especially didn't like him in the books with Karal he seemed to have absolutely no self control or anything. Naw... couldn't happen. *g* Basically, I think ML wrote her as she did because she _isn't_ the main character. She's there as a cameo because we, the fans, love her. However, Kero would be like Anne McCaffrey's character Robinton... he would never just be a quiet walk on. He'd take over. When she killed him off, he was very upset and she had to write another book with him. Kero's just like that imho. For to be written as she _is_ would basically overwhelm the rest of the book. ~all in my efforts to support our find list....~ ** Oh, Yvone? The bro/sis book stole a day from me... talk about great!
