In the wood? I don't think that was vrondi. They were in the Forest of Sorrows right? It that case, I don't believe the vrondi were what was watching. The quote is from Winds of Fury and it's below. S P O I L E R S P A C E In Winds of Fury, when Vanyel diverts Firesong's Gate, Stefen takes Skif and Nyara aside to talk to them about how hard they can expect their life together to be. A part of the conversation follows: "To think I've envied Talia all this time-" At Stefen's puzzled look, he added, "That's the current Queen's Own." Stefen then says ":Of course, the one with all the Empathy! 'Fandes almost swatted her once, when she thought the girl was going to lose all control.:" It was the spirit of Van/'Fandes/Stefen that was watching them out in the forest. Nor where they watching Kris. They were in the Forest of Sorrows when they were being watched. Yep! Me, Aryenne Winterfire! ::wavies to Van:: I've got messages from Rhiannon Shadowsong for everyone! She says Bright the Day! and that it's my turn to pass on the friendship ring! So... I have picked Van! ::huggles him:: See you on AOL dearie. Ok... let's get on with the show, shall we? (Guess who's been eating high sugarfied candy?) I don't share the seemingly list-wide desire to know more about the Empire; the story I most wanted to know, that of Sunsinger and Shadowdancer, will never appear. However, I'd be quite interested in a short story book about Vanyel - all his exploits and adventures down on the Karsite border. He describes some of them briefly in Magic's_Promise, and we get a little more in the songs in the back of Magic's_Price, but I'd love to hear the whole story. I never can get enough of Vanyel . I would absolutely love to see a story about Sunsinger and Shadowdancer! I love the song and go about singing everywhere. ::Grins:: I do a pretty good Shadowdancer if I may say so myself. If Misty does read this list, I'm sending out a royal beg for a book on them! ::gets on her knees and pleads:: About Lavan Firestorm, I'm with whoever said that there was no connection between the dark servants of Vanyel and those. I think it's a rather recycled term. Not to mention that maybe they were sent by Ma'ar in one of his bodies. He was in Lareth for Van, maybe he was in someone else to send them to Lavan Firestorm. Just a little brain muse. Well, I'm going to go bounce out of here now. COuld Kris and Jeri be descendants of Vanyel? In AF, before Elspeth was Chosen, they were mentioned as possible cansisates for Heir. oh no........wait!!!! That might mean lord Orthallen was also vanyel's descendant! there are a lot of inconsistencies in LHM. for instance: Vanyels healing/bardic gift, Jisa's age,how old Stefen was when he met vanyel...and that's just the beginning in Mpro, vanyel says bladework is taught at bardic. how come stefen couldn't defend himself then? does anyone on the list long to hear more about brightstar? i do. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I do not believe that they could be from the Ahskevron blood. Kris's family had a holding called Gyrfalcons Marches. And as for Jeri her mother was Lady Indra a councillor. >for instance: Vanyels healing/bardic gift, Jisa's >age, how old Stefen was when he met vanyel...and that's They brought that up in The last Vanyel novel. It was all dealing with Tylendel. I am sorry I dont have a page reference or a quote. But I know it was there a couple times about it. Once with the Tayledras and once with Vanyel near the end of hte book. >just the beginning >in Mpro, vanyel says bladework is taught at bardic. >how come stefen couldn't defend himself then? Bladework is taught but just because it is taught doesn't mean everyone will be good at it. Remember both Breda and Medren are fairly good with weapons. But also realize Stef wasn't formally trained before coming Medren was. And Stef never had to leave the palace for his journyeman period. >does anyone on the list long to hear more about >brightstar? i do. I would like to know about him but I don't think a book will ever be written about him. Too tell you the truth I would like to read more about the Shin'a'in especially when Tarma's clan is put back up. Those few short stories about Keth's kids really weren't enough since they didn't deal much with Shin'a'in lifestyle. I want to learn more about Jadrie. Yesterday i was re-reading magic's pawn for the nth time and happened to look over the back cover, something i haven't done properly since i first read it. It said "Though Vanyel has been born with near-legendary abilities to work both Herald and Mage magic, he wants no part of such things. Nor does he seek a warriors path, wishing instead to become a Bard Yet such a talent as his if left untrained may prove a menace not only to Vanyel but to others as well. So the is sent to be fostered with his aunt, Savil, one of the famed Herald-Mages of Valdemar. But, strong-willed and self centered, Vanyel is a challenge which even Savil can not master alone. For soon he will become the focus of frightening forces, lending his raw magic to a spell that unleashes terrifying wyr-hunters on the land. And by the time Savil seeks the assistance of a Shin'a'in Adept, Vanyel's wild talent may have already grown beyond anyone's ability to contain, placing Vanyel, Savil, and Valdemar itself in desperate peril....." Is it just me who finds something drastically wrong with this description? For a start, Van's abilities are only there in potential, and Savil tested all her nephews and nieces for magic and had not found Van to have the actuve skills "this one doesn't appear to be much more than a clotheshorse for all his potential." Secondly, in my big moan, He isn't sent to Savil because he has uncontrolable magics, it is because Withen wants him to "behave like a man." Okay, yes i accept that the leant his potential to 'Lendel which was the trigger but, grrrrrrr, up to that point the whole lot is complete rubbish. I'm done moaning now.
