I'm a newbie with a problem with which I hope someone can help me. I tried
to retrieve the faqs and am not having success. I sent this:

Actually, I got the impression it was *Savil* who had a crush on *Starwind,* 
not the other way around.

By way of textevd, page 215-216 of the paperback:

      "Though hardly innocent, Savil had never been so forward with any man 
before. But there was something about this one, something exotic and 
compelling about this Starwind that had her heart beating fast, her palms 
breaking a sweat. She supposed she'd seen it in him the first time he opened 
his eyes, but she'd been too busy tending to his wounds then to pay it any 
heed. Now, though, his face all but healed, his elegant movements, those 
ice-blue eyes, and that mane of snow white hair combined to make an 
irresistible package.
     Or perhaps it was just that she had been out on circuit for a very long 
time.

Starwind proceeds to shoot her down, albeit gently.

As for Kris and Jeri possibly being related to Vanyel, I doubt it. Firstly, 
they don't have to be blood-related to royalty to be candidates for the 
throne. Even if there aren't any suitable members of the royal family, 
someone has to rule. Secondly, Van didn't mention anything about either of 
them when he was talking to Elspeth and company. Thirdly, don't you think 
that would be getting a little carried away? Everything doesn't have to be 
connected.

As for Kris's Farsight being Mage-Gift, why on earth would it be? Again, 
this is getting a tad brainfry complicated. There's no possible reason for 
it to be anything but what it is--Farsight. Plain and simple.

I'm not sure about the difference between Farspeech and Mindspeech. I think 
Misty got a little carried away--she has *four* different telepathic Gifts, 
Mindspeech, Mindhearing, Thoughtsensing, and Farspeech. My best guess is 
that Farspeech is more distance-oriented, and Mindhearing and Thoughtsensing 
are probably just different names for the same thing.

About the Savil Starwind thingee here.. I don't have my book with me >.< (a 
friend of mine has kidnapped it..) so I can't pull any specific blurbs out of 
it but to me it looked like he did x.x  One of his elders says something to 
Starwind about maybe he's just defending her because of his own feelings 
towards her and he confirms it.. and the way he said it just made it sound 
like that, but then again I'm a completely sappy romantic so I could just be 
reading more into it than is actually there ::grin::  And yes, it does look 
more like Savil has a thing for Starwind than vice versa.

Aaaand.. on another note.  The friendship ring! ^_^  ::winks at Claire and 
produces the ring with a flourish, presenting it to her:: My lady ^_- For you.

I was just comparing the descriptions given:
Winds of Fate: P 173 (I hate the abbreviation WOF for the following reason: 
Winds of Fate? Winds of Fury?):
"If they didn't know what Mage-Talent was, it could possibly, be mistaken 
for something like Sight"
Will someone find Elspeth's description of Mage-Sight (WoC I think) (I can 
find anything from the LOTR and the Silm instantly, but finding quotes from 
Lackey is not my strong point yet, guess I haven't read the books enough 
yet)
The descriptions (working from memory) are very similar I think: AOQ page 
308: "...seeing the swirls of emotion she had followed and Seeing the actual 
landmarks with Kris' Gift as well. Darkness did not hamper his sight in the 
least, for everything seemed to be illuminated from within, living things 
the most."
There are probably other quotes similar to this to describe Mage-sight in 
the Mage-Winds and maybe Magic's Pawn.

the Firebird website today I came accross a section of
Misty books that aren't written/published/released
yet... Now, most of these books I've heard of befor,
but one is brand new to me... But I'll list them all
and what I know about them to see if I've got all the

Since the topic of ages has been brought up, I did some research (this is 
probably a YKTRTMMLW, but...) and decided to uncover the ages of some of the 
LHM characters (with textev = textual evidence):

In the beginning of mPawn:
Van is 15 (a lot of textevd for this one, but one of them is: mPromise, PB, 
pg. 91, "But then, when he'd been the bower pet, he'd only been a handsome 
fifteen-year-old, with a bit of talent at playing and singing.

When Tylendel dies, he is 17. (textevd: m,Price, PB, pg. 321, "'Lendel had 
died at seventeen."

In the beginning of mPromise:
Van is 28 (textevd: mPromise, PB, pg. 9, "Twenty-eight years old, and he 
[Withen] still makes me feel fifteen, and in disgrace."

Jisa is 6 (textevd: mPromise, PB, pg. 28, Yfandes: "Because she's [Jisa's] 
adorable- as most six-year-old humans are *not*")

Medren is about 12 (textevd: mPromise, PB, pg. 93, "A tall boy [Medren] of 
about 12...."

In the beginning of mPrice:
Jisa is 15 (textevd: mPrice, PB, pg. 16, "Is she [Jisa] old enough to 
understand what Trev is going to have to do- that the good of Valdemar may- 
will- take precedence over her happiness? How can any fifteen-year-old 
understand that?"

Since, Jisa is 15, this would make Van 37 (time span of nine years).

Stefen is 17 (textevd: mPrice, PB, pg. 321, "Van had met Stef when the Bard 
was seventeen." 

Medren is "nearly twenty," so about 19 (textevd: mPrice, PB, pg. 24 (thoughts 
of Van's), "Ye holy stars, he [Medren] must be nearly twenty!"

***Note*** Medren's age seems to be an inconsistency with the time span of 
Jisa's, but since Misty was never exact about Medren's age, I based Van's age 
upon the time span of Jisa's. 

Since it was winter at the beginning of mPrice (textevd: mPrice, PB, pg. 9, 
"A week ago it wouldn't have been dew out here, it would have been frost. But 
Spring was well on the way now..." thus making it winter at the moment. At 
the end it was also winter (textevd: the snow all over the place, and if you 
want more, see mPrice, PB, pg. 208) making:
Van: 38
Stef: 18
Jisa: 16


And on to the final subject:
The name of the planet on which the Valdemar series takes palce *is* Velgarth 
(textevd: Arrow's Flight, Prologue, PB, pg. 7 (first page), "Long ago- so 
long ago that the details of the conflict are lost and only the merest 
legends remain- the world of Velgarth was wracked by sorcerous wars.").

I'm not sure if this is allowed, but I read through the FAQ and the
Newbiefest, and they didn't say anything about it, so I guess it's okay.

I want to develop a persona.  But for the Tayledras clans, aren't there
specific names for them besides the Fox Clan, the Eagle Clan, etc?

Just wondering.  And hello to everyone!  I see that I'm going to have to
read my Misty books again before I can participate in any good discussion.

   I decided since it's LHM, it was worth it to look up textevd for Jisa's 
age. So here goes:

"She's adorable--as most six-year-old humans are *not*." (MPromise, p.28, 
pb)

"It's bad enough just being fifteen and the King's daughter." (MPrice, p.11, 
pb)

   There you have it: she is six in MPromise, and fifteen in the beginning 
of MPrice. Therefore she is probably sixteen when she marries Treven. If 
there are any references to his age I do not have the time to search for 
them.

   It's been nice seeing some oldbies speaking again; I am putting out a 
general call for some more. Are Rhiannon Shadowsong, Raven Darkblade, 
Shadowblade, and Dax still around, to name a few? Your voices are missed.

   Thank you to all who have given me suggestions on out-of-print books.

Hey list-sibs,

Anyone read Darian's Tale(Owlflight/sight/knight)? I'm in the beggining of 
Owlknight and it's getting really interesting. If anyone has read it or read 
some of it, do you think Darian and Keisha are lifebonded. They don't seem 
like it. Keisha priorities are more towards healing.

Speeking of lifebonds I was on someone web page and they listed all the 
lifebonds that appeared in the Valdamar series. Two of them really supprised 
me. First the person said that Firesong and Andesha were lifebonded and 
Darkwind and Elspeth were not. I think it's the other way around. There is 
no way Firesond and Andesha could be lifebonded because Andesha left to 
become a Shaman. Darkwind and Elspeth might be..I'm not entirely sure. What 
do you think?
