Welcome to the Misty List. Why Misty? read the NewbieFest! *giggle* We're all one big happy insan....uh, family here! There are two pages that will help you with the list and help answer some of those pesky questions. The first, Mel's Rules of Thumb, are at http://www.herald.co.uk/local_info/rules_thumb.html It's a short page, and talks about the the do's and don'ts of the list The second page, the NewbieFest, will give you a little more of a feel towards the list, and help you out with things like, "What's up with the sheep?". *grin* It's located at http://www.ling.udel.edu/hyde/pers/misty/newbiefest.html If you at any time have any other questions, feel free to voice them on the list, or ask myself or one of the other Councilors (we have our titles in our signatures) privately :). Its actually a collaboration with the same author that she has done the Adept series with. ( thanks again to the 1995 suggested reading threads for pointing me in the direction of this wonderful series) Has anyone read Owknight? I have seen mixed reviews of it and am wondering if it is worth buying in hardcover (having the other 2 of the owl books in hardcover I want to complete the set). Are the illustrations up to the others (eg Sbreaking?) I don't want to give any of it away, though. As for the illustrations, Larry Dixon did things a little differently. He made a strip- a slightly narrow rectangle below the "chapter __" heading with a scene from the book or depicting a character/ characters. I personally don't like that as much as the full page illustrations, but they were still nicely done. I bought the book in hardcover and don't regret doing so. Ok, memory jog. If the person who posted the "Tom O Bedlam" poem/lyrics is still subbed to this list, could they post it again or e-mail it to me? I (silly me) didn't save it when it was first posted, and now that I want to read it again....I can't. I'd like to reread it for the Eric, Beth, and Kory plot similarities.......Bardic-Gifted flautist sheep for the effort..... Owlknight was definitely worth buying in the hard cover! It was my second favorite of the three Owl books.. and I really like the Owl books ^_^ And yeah... the art is still really really nice but I definitely like the full page illustrations better. - Van - ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 07 Dec 1999 00:03:56 GMT From: "Ravenfield k'Treva" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Owlknight and others Message-ID: <19991207000356.11495.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> I only just started OwlKnight. I'm on chapter 7. I haven't bought the book yet because I'm waiting for the PB version. It's really good so far. I'm pleased with how it is evolving. The pictures are a litter different than the other ones Larry Dixon has been doing. They are b/w rectangles with pictures of birds(heads mostly) and people. But it looks like from a spot on the picture there is a bright shine that makes light rays all over the picture. It's nice but not the kinds of pictures that are in the Mage Winds Trilogy. That's my 2 cents anyway Strawberry Sheep to all Ravenfield Mistress of Lore > >Has anyone read Owknight? I know this stuff is sort of subjective, but not having read fiction complete with illustrations since about the age of 10, it's interesting to discuss. Peanut butter fudge sheep to all! (yummy!)
