I finally have time to be one the list again so here I am. I hope that everyone is well. I heard a rumor that there is going to be a fourth book in the Owl series. Has anyone else heard this? I have not read Owlknight yet because a lot of people told me that I should wait till it comes out in paper back. Maybe I will get it from the library, although my library is always the last to get anything. Are the illustrations up to the >others (eg Sbreaking?) >Finduilas< I wasn't that keen on the 1st owl book, liked the 2nd more and was really glad I risked getting OwlKnight in hardback. The language was more like the storm books, owlflight was a little "young adult/ teens" and I couldn't tell you what the difference actually was. I'd say complete the set in hardback. Reading Melanie Rawn a couple of days ago and was reminded of the barmaids view story from Oathblood (don't ask me where the link is my brain's working funny at the mo). Couple of things from that. I'd like to hear more about that "wheel" religion that the farmer in that story was part of. And with MZB recent death will there be any more of the S&S books for new T&K stories to go into, is Oathblood the last we'll see of T&K. ---------------------- Liz Hoffman E.G.Hoffman-+AT+-soton.ac.uk ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 Dec 1999 17:37:45 EST From: Syara3-+AT+-aol.com To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Karal pictures Message-ID: <0.7c849f1b.257ee639-+AT+-aol.com> Laura said: >Did anybody else out there think it was >kind of weird the way the pictures of Karal looked entirely different in >each of the Storms books? Yeah I think it's weird that all the pictures are different. But the pictures inside are better than the cover. I was flipping throught the pages of Storm Rising and the illustations are very different both in style and quality. I own them in pb. So if that's unique to pb or all the books, I would be happy to know. Karal looks different fom picture to picture not just book to book. My favorite picture of him though is At the very end of Sbreaking. All 3 libraries I have cards for are missing both Owlsight and OwlKnight!! Also, absolutely no bookstore in my area has Owlknight (and both times I ordered books from the local bookstore (Coles) it took 2.5 MONTHS for it to arrive) > >Strawberry covered sheep shaped cookies to all, > > >Starshadow* >Royal Defender of the Brat > >______________________________________________________ >Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com Finduilas http://www.spiderspace.net/finduilas/index.htm ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 07 Dec 1999 19:35:16 PST From: "Elena Gwynne" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Karal pictures Message-ID: <19991208033516.5579.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> I never really thought about it. The pictures in Storm Warning are of a different style than those in the later two, though. That might account for at least part of the differences. >Laura said: > >Did anybody else out there think it was > >kind of weird the way the pictures of Karal looked entirely different in > >each of the Storms books? > >Yeah I think it's weird that all the pictures are different. Hope this helps you. WTTW, Runewind Formerly known as Sara Bedlam Boys ------------- For to see mad Tom of Bedlam, ten thousand miles I'll travel. Mad Maudlin goes on dirty toes for to save her shoes from gravel. Still I sing bonny boys, bonny mad boys: Bedlam boys are bonny, for they all go bare and they live by the air and they want no drink nor money. I went down to Pluto's Kitchen for to get me food one morning, and there I got souls piping hot, all on the spit a-turning. My staff has murdered giants; my bag a long knife carries for to cut mince-pies from children's thighs with which to feed the fairies. The spirits white as lightning would on my travels guide me; the moon would shake and the stars would quake whenever they espied me. And when that I'll be murdering the man in the moon to a powder, his staff I'll break and his dog I'll shake, and there'll howl no demon louder. By a knight of ghosts and shadows I summoned am to tourney ten leagues beyond the wild world's end; methinks it is no journey. Of forty bare years have I twice twenty been enraged, and of thirty been three times fifteen in durance soundly caged; Still I do sing any food, any feeding, feeding, drink or clothing? come dame, come maid, be not afraid: poor Tom will injure nothing. With a host of furious fancies of which I am commander, with a flaming spear and a horse of air through the wilderness I'll wander. I know more than Apollo, for oft when he lies sleeping I see the stars at bloody wars in the wounded welkin weeping. >From the hag and the hungry goblin that into rags would rend ye, may the spirit that stands by the naked man in the Book of Moons defend ye. That of your five sound senses may you never be forsaken, nor wander from yourselves with Tom abroad to beg your bacon. ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 2157 **********************************
