Okie, have to defend Misty here, Korendel. Have you read her urban fantasies called the "SERRAted Edge"? The main characters in these books are human mages, dragons, elves, a unicorn or two, and a huge assortment of critters in "Chrome Circle". There's also the "Knights" books (Summoned to Tourney & Knights of Ghosts and Shadows). Again, the main character here are non-humans. I've read pretty much all the Valdemar stuff but for the lst half or so of Storm Breaking and the Mage Wars trilogy. I enjoy roleplaying (Tamora Pierce and Mercedes Lackey) chats, my brand new AUTOHARP I got for the holidays, playing the oboe and piano, web building, sculpting, drawing, the whole kit'n'caboodle. Anyway--about these gods nd goddesses: When Need was alive, she was follower of twin gods and goddesses (textevd WFate p.261 towards bottom)--Karanel and Dara, Kerenal and Dina. Perhaps these gods just took on different identities and are still the main deities. Vkandis had a Goddess-consort in old records(textevd SW-p.98-top) whose name was Kalanel(textevd SW-p.180-bottom). No promotion of RP groups or RPing is allowed on this list since it could get the list disbanded and the list mistress in serious trouble. If you want to RP on your own its fine and do so at your own risk, but please don't jeopardize the list by trying to recruit here. I don't mean to come off like a spoil sport here but Misty can and from what I understand has gone after groups in the past, or at least her lawyers have. Now on a lighter note, I have not read The River's Gift yet but the song its based on is one of my favorites. I love the CD its from Freedom Flight and Fantasy. I even had to buy the print Larry Dixon did of the cover from Firebird. I was wondering if anyone else has read the Mark Shepard books that continue in the Serrated Edge world? They are Elvendude, Spiritride, and Lazerwars all of them are fun if not quite as good as Misty's I liked Spiritride the best. If any of you had Borders Books around you it might be worth your while to look around Shepard did signings for them and he signed all the copies of his books they had. If they didn't sell that day they are just out on the shelves. I've been a fan of Mercedes Lackey for a dozen years now and I like to think that I have a complete or as close to complete collection as I can get at this time. I'm particurally fond of the Bardic Voices/Choices series and was wondering if anyone knows if any further books will be written?. I snap up any Valdemar books the moment I even hear them sniffed about. I just received The Black Swan in the mail today and just like any time I receive one of her books, I tend to drop everything else I happen to be reading to read hers. I'm a little late on getting this particular book but that is only because someone promised to get it for me for Xmas but she died a few weeks ago before she was able to get it for me. Believe it or not, my grandmother and I shared Misty's books between the two of us. And it's a fond memory. I'm one of those obsessed fans when I find an author that I like, I tend to search out every single thing they've ever written, been involved in, or just plain recommend and right now, the only 2 authors I feel that was about are Mercedes Lackey and Lynn Abbey, sans the reason why I'm searching out information.
