From mel at herald.co.uk Tue Aug 17 12:42:16 2004 From: mel at herald.co.uk (Melanie Dymond Harper) Date: Sun Jun 26 23:52:52 2005 Subject: [Epic-List] GenCon UK games Message-ID: <20040817114216.GA19939@mail.herald.co.uk> Hi folks, Remember us? Epic Experience, purveyors of wondrous free-form roleplaying games, often involving ferrets? We'd just like to tell you about what we'll be running at GenCon UK this year, in case anyone would like to sign up. Go on... you know you want to. (14th - 17th October. Butlins, Minehead.) Both our games this year are new games, and the details are: Friday, 2pm (slot 6): Winter Of Discontent ------------------------------------------ Journey back to the Middle Ages, when superstition, ignorance and a robust approach to hygiene hold sway over the isolated community of Bassethwaite, gripped in unnatural winter and civil strife. In Winter of Discontent, the Age of Reason is far in the future, and the Renaissance a mere glimmer in a visionary eye. Nobles, tradesfolk, guildsmen and of course the omnipresent peasants throng the streets in protest or cower within, fearing the end of the world may be at hand. Will the deathly chill ever end? Will St Kevin intercede to protect his beloved people? Will Sir Humphrey return from the Crusades to depose the wicked Sheriff of Basset? Will the lake thaw in time for the villagers' annual Ferret Rolling? Find out all this and more, as you take the role of a character in Winter of Discontent on Friday afternoon. And may God have mercy on your soul... Saturday, 2pm (slot 10): Pearls Before Swine -------------------------------------------- Travel with us to the mysterious East, and explore the lands of crouching tigers and hidden dragons, towering skyscrapers, honourable warriors, bloody inter-clan rivalries and inscrutable elderly gentlemen. Some seek money; some seek fame; some seek power and still others struggle for the chance to lead a peaceful life in harmony with the elements. But all have heard of the Pearl of Heavenly Peace, and its sudden disappearance has thrown the city into chaos... achieve enlightenment on Saturday afternoon in Pearls Before Swine. WE ARE NOT HANDLING BOOKINGS OURSELVES THIS YEAR, but we have high hopes (well, at least I do -- Mel) that the system used by Horsemen Events, who have taken over the running of GenCon, will be better than the... less user-friendly... system used by Peter Adkinson's boys and girls at GenCon UK at Easter 2003. Certainly we should be able to get better feedback about numbers booking and so forth. You can now sign up for events online; go to http://www.consupport.com/index.asp?Con=13 and follow the instructions (or bug Ratty about it). You may notice that our events are currently listed as for 20 players. This is largely because trying to write for a completely unknown number of players is very hard work, and we really don't have enough of an idea how many signups we're going to get yet -- partly because of not knowing how many people will show up at the new venue. If we get more people wanting to play, we'll expand the games to fit (probably to a maximum of 36). So, if you try to sign up and it says the game's full, DON'T PANIC -- you haven't missed your chance. Just let us know and we'll tweak the website details accordingly. Knowing that we need to make the games bigger earlier, rather than later, would be useful. ;) To summarise, then: - Two games, Friday and Saturday afternoons - Book through the website above -- not through us - Any queries, send them to info@epic-experience.org.uk (don't reply to this mail) - we look forward to seeing all of you lovely people in a couple of months - if you have no further interest in hearing from us ever again (sob!) email mel@epic-experience.org.uk (again, don't reply to this mail) and I will take you off the list Cheers Mel & Mo From mel at herald.co.uk Thu Sep 16 16:45:48 2004 From: mel at herald.co.uk (Melanie Dymond Harper) Date: Sun Jun 26 23:52:52 2005 Subject: [Epic-List] GCUK update Message-ID: <20040916154548.GA24460@mail.herald.co.uk> Hello folks, Just a quick update on the Epic Experience games at GenCon. Winter Of Discontent: 2pm Friday, final player count is 24, there are six places remaining (18 people are currently booked). Pearls Before Swine: 2pm Saturday, more-or-less-final player count is 30, there are 13 places remaining (17 people are currently booked). If we don't see most of the places for Pearls Before Swine booked by about 10 days before the convention, I will probably trim its size a little. Book now! (through www.genconuk.com) Cheers Mel From mel at herald.co.uk Tue Oct 19 12:24:18 2004 From: mel at herald.co.uk (Melanie Dymond Harper) Date: Sun Jun 26 23:52:52 2005 Subject: [Epic-List] GenCon UK over for another year Message-ID: <20041019112418.GB20681@mail.herald.co.uk> Hello you lovely people, Welcome to those of you who have just joined us (after scribbling email addresses on voting slips during GenCon)... Thanks to all of you who came along and played in this year's games! We hope you all enjoyed them and look forward to seeing you next time. Be warned, we already have an idea of one of the games we'll be running... but more of that later. This list, as you probably know, is for Epic-related announcements only (e.g. when and where we're running games). Because I know some of you like to talk (... nonsense...), I've just set up a companion chat list, Epic-Waffle. Join, if you so desire, by going to http://lists.herald.co.uk/ and following the instructions there.
