I tend to agree, although modern Britain resurrected "pence" for the 
decimal currency.

The use of "Count" and "Mark" in a convergent kind of way, to roughly equal 
the uses in our own world's history, however, I have always wondered 
about.   One similarity is coincidence, two is too many.
