I remember the line, but I parsed it a bit differently. I thought that the
idea of conflict with Kareen was scaring Mark. Therefore he lost his grip
on Gorge a little, therefore he wanted food, and he was reminding himself
"no food here" in an attempt to get Gorge back in line.
