I have seen a film where "Merde!" was subtitled "Bother".

And a western where "Gimme a slug of redeye" became
"Un Dubbonet, s'il vous plait".

The example to aim for is the Asterix comics, where
the translators do not attempt to preserve the exact pun
but make a new pun in the new language to preserve the mood.
