They're not set in imperial China, but rather in a similar society, but
there was a trilogy by Sean Russell I think the author was, published by
DAW, at least one of them had a Whelan cover....

I think M. Lucie Chin did some fantasy stories set in Imperial China or
similar setting.

DAW pubished a set of books in hardcover, which I am blanking on both author
name and titles, in a fantasy world like fantasy Imperial China or its
neighbors, several years ago.

There are others, but I'm blanking on their authors/titles, one author's
name is being just -that- elusive, -almost- remembering her name but not
quite.

Susan Shwartz I think set at least one of her books in Imperial China, was
it something with a title like Imperial Lady?

Brenda Clough's first series of books were set in an Imperial China-like
culture (I don't remember the book names).
