Actually the society in these two ( "The Initiate Brother" and
"Gatherer of Clouds" ) is closer to an alternate Japan than China. It
is the latter which has the glorious mountainscape cover art; maybe
that's why it's listed on Amazon as currently selling ( used ) for
MORE than the cover price was originally ( in 1992 ). Now I wish I
hadn't traded my copies in during one of my more draconian bookshelf
cullings.
