The fructose in corn syrup does not act in the body like
sucrose/glucose. It 1) does not turn off the hunger reflex like natural
sugar does, and b) it does not stimulate the production of insulin,
leading to higher than expected blood glucose levels. This is a problem
for diabetics, who already tend to be overweight and of course have high
blood sugar. There are other problems with it. Blame Archer Daniels
Midland.
