I just glanced at it. The author of it gets nothing from me but scorn...
There is quite of bit of SF Romance, though most of it is over in the
ROMANCE section, and some of it on-line and some in small press.
Some names:
Linnea Sinclair, published by small press until Bantam published three of
her novels, starting last year--I noticed when I picked up Finder's Keepers
a year ago, which was the first of her books published by non-small-press
publisher.
C. J. Barrie or Barry or some such, published in romance--I noticed one of
those in a supermarket, and in the romance section briefly in Barnes &
Noble, has space pirates and space stations and such....
"Jayne Castle," a pseudonym for a well-known romance writer, over in the
romance section, at least two series, taking place on planets which contact
to Earth had been lost from, with paranormal talents, but hey, the Lensman
series had paranormal talents, so does Dune, etc.
Susan Grant. I haven't read her work, but she's in the SF Romance field,
over in Romance
Rowena Cherry -- seen the name mentioned
Gena Showalter
J. D. Robb
Lots of others.
Armadillocon, is it, just had an awards ceremony for on-line SF, one of that
categories seemed to have been soemthing like SF Romance.
There is the RITA for SF Romance, and there were multiple novels nominated
for that, and have been for several years.
Jerk Journalist is a cluesless can't do research worth worth a plugged
nicked dingbat...
For that matter, Jerk Journalist seems to ignore SF writers who have
everyone pairing up in their books--Star Tide Rising by Brin, even the
dolphins pair up. Talk about overdone sludge romantic twaddle....
There are entire -lines- of SF/fantasy romance-- Tor has one, there's
Harlequin's Luna line (fantasy, not SF, admitted, but...), there's LoveSpell
Books,
Mostly "paranomal romances" focus on fantasy, not SF--MOSTLY. But then,
there is a lot more fantasy than SF being published generally.... going into
the romance/fantasy category, there are TONS of authors active--Susan
Krinard, Sherrilyn Kenyon, someone or other Sparks, Katie McAlister, S. L.
Viehl who also writes SF that could be categorized as SF Romance (and which
Roc publishes, as opposed to vampiric fantasy novels in the romance
section),
