so would you call 'the three musketeers' a romance? granted, 3 of 4 main
characters seem to fall in love again every few pages, but its not exactly
love between 2 protagonists. on the other hand, there is lots of
swashbuckling and derring do.

waht about 'the count of monte cristo'? almost no romance between
characters (after the first 21 chapters, but whats a score of chapters out
of three score and ten?) but the title character is way larger than life
and much swashbuckling ensues.

ps
speaking of hte count - my sister's air conditioner some sprang a leak, and
due to location..... it leaked down her bookshelf! Winnie the Pooh (the
original version, not disney, in hardcover) got stuck to The Ship who Sang,
which got stuck to ... seven books altogether, BUT the Count of Monte
Cristo, complete and unabridged, is safe due to being In Use.

so watch out for drippy air conditioners, they may have it in for your books
