I associate Wellingtons with Enid Blyton and the Wombles. Because I live in
a country where the capital city is called Wellington.
Greatcoats, I probably associate more with Heyer, and other lesser regency
romances.
Which reminds me of one of the books I'm reading at the moment.
_Gentlemen's Blood: A History of Dueling From Swords at Dawn to Pistols at
Dusk_ by Barbara Holland. It's very ancedotal, and lots of fun.
My main response to it (other than not everyone reading it is American, so
could you please stop using 'our' to describe things) is along the lines of:
aren't people silly?
