Suppose instead of a doe-eyed girl, he'd rescued a dangerously wounded boy 
of comparable innocence and strength. Which would, I suppose, make the kid 
12 or 13. Wouldn't Dag have done exactly what he did when he rescued Fawn? I 
don't see it as being diverted from his duty by True Love at all - not yet. 
I see it as part of his humanitarial "save the poor farmers" thing.
