Uh, NO. OAV/OVA releases in Japan do NOT necessarily lack for
quality the way they do in the USA. In many cases OAVs are
produced for fannish audiences and are far superior to the TV
show that comes out later, if/when they become popular. I
personally think the Tenchi Muyou OAVs were pretty good, and the
TV show a retconned ab*rtion.
