That is all well and good, but the initial post sounded to me
very much along the lines of:  "I don't like this stuff, and I
want it to go away."  There are a lot of things that I would like
to go away.  I would dearly love for SF Giants Baseball games to
go away, particularly as the train that I have to take home from
work is the one that goes to the stadium, so whenever there is a
home game, I get home late after having had to put up with noisy
obnoxious sports fans, many of whom have been drinking.  But I'm
not going to post to that effect if someone just happens to
mention that they went to a game on list.

I'm very tired of hearing straight men say that they don't like
slash (and go on and ON and ON about why, and imply that there is
some sort of 'problem' or unsatisfied relationship urge that
causes women to want/like it, which they just happen to have some
kind of fix for) in response to my just happening to MENTION it
within earshot of them.  It's not meant for them.  If some of
them enjoy it I am pleased (I used to have a straight guy as my
beta) but I really don't want to hear about how they find it
offensive just for EXISTING.

The pornography most straight guys do enjoy, after all, is not
exactly famous for being inoffensive to females in general.

So, you may certainly feel free to soothe their ruffled feathers,
but I'm going to continue telling them to get over it already,
because I'm really, really, really sick of hearing about it; it's
not like by mentioning that it exists, I am shoving it under
their nose, any more than they are shoving HUSTLER under my nose
by happening to mention its existence in casual conversation.
